For me it's a toss up between these 3 and the opening 3 on Yield.

Ten: Black, Jeremy, Oceans

Vs.: W.M.A., Blood, RVM

Vitalogy: Corduroy, Bugs, Satan's Bed

No Code: Hail, Hail, Who You Are, In My Tree

Yield: No Way, Given To Fly, Wishlist/In Hiding, Push Me, Pull Me, All Those Yesterdays

Binaural: Evacuation, Light Years, NAIS (weird, I love this album but it's hard to find a 3 without a drop.)

Riot Act: I Am Mine, Thumbing My Way, You Are

S/T: MITS, Parachutes, Unemployable

Backspacer: No 3 song run qualifies

Ten: Jeremy, Oceans, Porch
Vs.: W.M.A., Blood, RVM
Vitalogy: Not For You, Tremor Christ, Nothingman
No Code: Who You Are, In My Tree, Smile
Yield: Brain of J, Faithfull, No Way
Binaural: Of the Girl, Grievance, Rival
Riot Act: You Are, Get Right, Green Disease
S/T: Unemployable, Parachutes, Gone
Backspacer: Gonna See My Friend, Got Some, The Fixer

The last three are built around either the song I like the most (in the case of S/T) or the song I can actually stomach (on Riot Act and Backspacer).

Light Years->nothing as it seems is proof that the album should never die. I could make my own compilation, but PJ would never have given me the feeling I get when NAIS starts.

Just goes to show that these guys can't put out a truly classic album. They don't have it in them.

Ten: Oceans/Porch/Garden
Vs: WMA/Blood/RVM
Vitalogy: Tremor Christ/Nothingman/Whipping
No Code: Who You Are/In My Tree/Smile
Yield: Brain of J/Faithfull/No Way
Binaural: Insignificance/Of the Girl/Grievance
Riot Act: Tie between You Are/Get Right/Green Disease and 1/2 Full/Arc/All or None
Pearl Jam: Life Wasted/WWS/Comatose
Backspacer: None :(

If I had to pick one, I'd go with Binaural. In fact, make it a "Best 5 songs in a row" and add in Rival and Sleight of Hand. No other album can match that 7 thru 11 right there.

What makes it more baffling is when I think of all my other favorite bands there's no shortage of flawless three song runs. I wonder if it's just an anomaly or if there's some explanation for it. It's not like I don't think they have a lot very good three song runs...there's just not many stellar ones.

That all being said, if there were a third track on Merkinball, even if it were just silence, then that would be the best three track run in their catalog and I would change my answer from earlier.
