i love them, i think they were the first band that Chloe turned me on to back when we first started talking, and i fell in love with them quickly, and ive been waiting quite a while to see them live, which we will be doing next month in DC.
i havent given their last album of this new one much time yet, but everything they have done is Fantastic.

i still havent seen them yet, but i know you have to do it if you get the chance.
and if you want to check them out, the album that got me hooked was the "Meaning of 8" , and "Advice From the Happy Hippopotamus" was a real good one for me early on also.

hey PHATJ, have you seen them recently? are they still doing a painting on stage during the show?

Yeah, I saw them about two years ago, right when they were wrapping up with the tour supporting their last album. They actually have two artists painting on stage during every show. If you haven't actually seen this done live during the show, it's impossible to understand how cool it really is to watch. Their live performances are always outstanding. I'm probably going to be at their album release party and follow up concerts here at the end of April. They play back to back nights at First Ave. in Minneapolis.

Very happy to hear about the painting :) Scott and Connie still? I'm hoping we can get to the venue early enough in DC so Doc can be front row. It's so magical when you can feel the bass, take in all of Craig's emotion with his lyrics and smell the paint - it just adds a whole new element that you don't experience at any other band/show. I have a few pictures of the paintings Connie & Scott did in 2008 - they did two sets at Schuba's one night, same set list for both, but it was so worth it :)

i love this band and they're all amazing people, but i gotta be honest... the last album of theirs I actually could listen to all the way through was Meaning of 8 in 2007...

that and Advice for the Happy Hippo are their best albums for me.

new one is better than Light Chasers, but still has some really cringeworthy moments for me :?

I was thinking about that earlier today actually. They are a band that's a lot more enjoyable live. Meaning of 8 is by far my favorite album as a whole collection, but there are a number of songs on each album that I adore. Some bands are able to create an album that's better as a whole vs each song individually and I don't think Cloud Cult is one of those bands.
Not sure that wording makes sense...

i'd agree with that... they've def been much more of a communal experience/live band for sure. that said, i just think they've overused a lot of studio trickery/too many overdubs, etc. on the last 2-3 for my taste. remember that god awful super auto-tuned track on 'Light Chasers'?

 I don't know that I can name the song, no. I only gave that album a listen or two, haven't even give the new one a go yet.
