I read the Blue is the Warmest Color graphic novel last night. It was quite good, which made the movie seem even worse (and I already hated it).

I'm about 3/4 of the way through Freedom (TM) and it's pissing me off. To the point of it's affecting my mood when I'm not reading it. I'm going to have to finish it soon just so I can be in a better mood.

completely changes tact on you about 7/8 of the way through. It changes who the good/bad guys are in a complete 180 and you're left wondering what exactly is going on. It was well done because it was so out of left field. The second book has some rote moments where you know exactly what's going to happen when it happens but it does manage to surprise every now and then.

FINALLY finished The Goldfinch. I really don't see what all the fuss is about.

I bought it and started reading it about 15 years ago. But I never finished it. Then it got shoved away with some old books in my parents house. Then they split and I thought I'd lost it. But I found it this past spring in a box in my dad's apartment.

Super excited to get back to it. Of course, I started from the beginning. But so far I'm loving it. Only about 40 pages in.

Stone Mattress: Nine Stories by Margaret Atwood.

This doesn't come out until the 16th. But somehow my local neighborhood used bookstore had a first edition hardback available on the used shelf. So, of course I picked it up! Loving it so far, but just cracked the first story.

Anyway, I saw the tv mini-series long, long ago. I remember not loving the ending of that. But it's been so long that I really don't remember many specifics of the story beyond the set up. And Flagg.
