What's wrong with respecting the guy? Good God haha.

Because it's indicative of the fact you can't even slight the media coverage of him without first acknowledging him. It's like "support the troops"

Jesus. I can't? How so? Yes the media coverage has been ridiculous and unnecessary.

Alluding to the fact I'm pro media is a first. More than half of the things I watch on ESPN or FOX I watch with the sound down.

I think you're misunderstanding. That wasn't directed at you in particular, just the overwhelming and all-encompassing reverence people have for him right now.

Instead of saying "Derek Jeter is a terrible shortstop" (because he is) it has to be "He's definitely one of the best shortstops ever, but he's just not the same player anymore".

Instead of saying "I can't stand Derek Jeter and the ridiculous media coverage" it has to be "I have a ton of respect for Jeter, but..."

One of my favourite Media Moments from Jeterfest 2014: in last night's Jays-Mariners game, the Jays recapped the start to Dalton Pompey's career. Buck Martinez said something along the lines of "It's been a whirlwind start to Pompey's career. He got his first at bat [shot of first at bat], his first big defensive play [shot of diving catch], his first career hit [shot of first hit] and his first conversation with Derek Jeter [shot of Jeter/Pompey talking at second base]."

This is something that actually happened, and I can't stress enough that this was in the middle of a game between the Jays and Mariners.

Ahhhhhhhh. Not sure if you are correct or not. You may be wrong but you may be right. I'm far from a media apologist though.

With all the domestic violence stuff going on that is probably why Jeter is getting shoved down out throat. Someone who has never been in serious trouble for anything. That I'm aware of anyway.

No way Jeter is in the same conversation as an all around SS as Cal, Honus Wagner, ARod, Ernie Banks etc. I'd even put Barry Larkin ahead of him. Jeter is probably on par with Luke Appling, Robin Yount, etc. Hard to compare him to guys like Ozzie, Omar, Aparicio because Jeter is better defensively but not on the same planet in the field.

I appreciate the support, but Skitch is not welcome on my team since defeating me in the tournament.

Luscious Luke Appling was better than Jeter. And Larkin.

So Skitch's Tigers Twitter Community has totally sold me on Alan Trammell being a HOF'er. It's actually pretty ridiculous that he isnt.

Probably right. Don't know a ton about him to be honest.

It is pretty solid.

Totally agree Trammell should be in. Super underrated.

If Jeter didn't have 3000 hits, his inclusion in the HOF over a litany of other guys would be a joke.
