I disagree to the extent that teams shouldn't be using tactics like planting fans in the stands to relay information to the batter. On-field tactics are always acceptable, though.

But the very idea that there's someone planted in the stands with binoculars watching for the catcher's sign, relaying it to the batter and the batter is watching him and reacting based on his signal is ludicrous. That no former players of teams that allegedly do it have come out against this kind of thing, and that no one has ever been caught by the dozens of cameras at every park every single game... yeah. It just doesn't happen.

Also, I prefer Casey Janssen's trolling of the Yankees:

I don't care how much you hate Jeter or are bothered by his farewell. That's just fucking idiotic on every single level.
He needs the ratings and discussion frankly.

Did any of them go 0-5 allowing 42 runs through the first 4 losses then waste a gem in the fifth game losing 1 to 0?

It will be interesting to see the Red Sox fans reaction to the Yankees SS this weekend.

The more I keep knocking Max Scherzer and thinking he isn't worth the contract he will get in a few months the more I'm probably wrong. Scherzer is the second pitcher in major-league history who, in consecutive seasons, won at least 15 games, lost no more than five, and struck out 200 or more batters. The other pitcher to do that was Sandy Koufax in 1963 (25-5, 306 SO) and 1964 (19-5, 223 SO).

He'll take Fri night off. For the weekend games, he said he's not playing SS, but will DH out of respect for the Boston fans and the rivalry.

Anyone hear what he wants to have for dinner tonight?

He'll get a warm reception. I'd be shocked if he doesn't.

It's really sad that there won't be an overrated chant. Because there should be.

No, but these teams were all actually in position to make the playoffs. Hell, the Mets were in first place by seven games in like mid-September. Did the Mariners ever actually catch up to the second Wild Card spot?

I wish Nomar never had injury problems. He was much better than Jeter prior to leaving Boston.

Nomar was the far superior player before his wrist injury. Nomar went from being elite to being a bum overnight.

I know it sounds, crazy, but anyone find it ironic Dave Stewart and La Russa fired Gibson with 3 games to go in the season? Revenge for 88?

Yes. My buddy and I were talking about that tonight. Ironically as we played RBI baseball for Nintendo.

La Russa always struck me as a guy with a massive ego. Would not shock me at all.
