Re: NBA Thread
I think we will be surprised by the Cavs defense. Not only will Love be more motivated but Varejao (sp?) and Marion will add some toughness that Miami didn't have. I can't stand Varejao but he was putting up great numbers last year before getting hurt and is one of those pests that frustrates a lot of players with his antics and high motor. They have a lot more rebounding than the heat ever had which one of our the biggest problems for Miami. I honestly think this big 3 is way better than Miami. Dwayne Wade had already lost a step when Lebron got there and Bosh is one of the softest players in the league. I think we should expect to see a much more mature Kyrie Irving too. Not because of the FIBA experience but because his is playing on a legitimate contender with the best player on the planet. The potential for the Lebron to average a triple double with this team is real.

If he wanted to do it and only cared about numbers Lebron could average a low number triple double. He doesn't and won't.

Agreed. But its not like playing 2k on your PlayStation. Real life game situations are not going to have Lebron dictating his game in order have a trip dub every night...

I'm not saying he will but the potential is there if he wanted to do it. It wouldn't be impossible for him to average 18-21 will 10 boards and 10 dimes. He could average 20 points extremely efficiently. He gets two field goals a quarter and make four free throws and he's got 20, 21 if he averages one 3 pointer a game. If the rest of the focus was on getting teammates better shots and going to the boards he could make it happen. I'm fantasizing a bit here I know because it's fun to think someone could do it so kill me.

Well he wouldn't have to get a triple double every night just average a triple double for the season. Big O did it somehow. I hear what you are saying though.

True he wouldn't have to do it every night. I think his stats last year were like 27, 7, 6 or 6.5 assists. It isn't completely outlandish for him to do it if he was getting closer to 20 a night than 30. Plus I do think K. Love will finish more of the passes from LBJ than Bosh did because Love will take more high percentage shots. Same goes with some of the roll players. Varejao and Marion will get more at the basket than Birdman or Haslem did. The pieces around him on paper fit Lebron's skill set better than the Heat's did. Will be fun to watch even if you hate them.

I know. Doesn't sound like it is an injury that will keep him down for long though. He should be back by Christmas which is when most people start paying attention to the NBA anyway.4/5 wrote:KD

I'm so glad Toronto held on to all of their key pieces from last year. I haven't been this excited for a Raptors season since...ever.

Re: NBA Thread
Grantland has had some solid preview pieces so far. Nothing earth shattering here if you consume a lot of basketball but cool to see the metrics match the eye test.
