if I can take a moment to remind the sociopaths and robots of RM how actual human feelings work, the whole point of this exercise was not Eddie Vedder playing imagine (which turns into a nice cover after a slow start), but the fact that the whole arena was singing along with him in solidarity. And yes, this happens all the time at a pearl jam show, but this isn't a pearl jam song, and would have felt like a bigger deal--something breaking through the closed circuit of the rest of the show. This would only have been possible with a song like Imagine, as opposed to the countless other more interesting but less universally well known songs.
And obviously listening to a recording is not the same as being there, but the crowd noise was left in for a reason, to invite you, however imperfectly, to share that moment.
