The only way a "Gotham when Batman was a kid" concept done by a TV network could possibly be shocking would be if it wasn't just the worst thing ever.

I guess I should adjust that to major TV network, to make it more exact. But still.

i cant think of one show that came out of the gates a 100% winner. it takes time for ongoing series to hit their groove. imo this is hitting it a bit quicker. albeit it can still get better but more through the progression of the story than anyones acting/cinematography etc

The biggest problem, ultimately, is going to be the inherent lack of drama. The main "schtick" of the show is really its biggest flaw.In this universe we know too many of the outcomes- Cobblepot, Nygma, Falcone, Wayne, etc all survive. Gordon doesn't clean up Gotham. So all the main motivations are thrown out the window. The other thing I am really not enjoying is the shoe horning in of not only the bad guys, but Bruce. I don't like that Gordon goes over to be Bruce's dad a for a couple hours a week. I much preferred the notion of Gordon giving him his coat at the murder scene, and not talking to him again until he was like 30.


I think McKenzie/Logue in a noir cop/corruption drama could actually be pretty good.

I'm really on the fence about this show, and I think Skitch is spot on in his post above.

It's a show I'll keep watching to see how it develops, but so far I'm just not super thrilled about it, which is disappointing for me. Comes across as some sort of tween Grimm. I just hope they keep focused on a consistent story arc, and don't have individual episodes where there's a random bad guy every episode that they are tracking down (a la Grimm)

- The Selena Kyle character is pretty lame.
- The Cobblepot character was really well cast.
- Not a fan of the Gordon character and the acting behind it.
- I enjoy the spin on Alfred being a hard ass instead of a nice grandfatherly figure he's always been in the movies.
- the Bruce character is a little too hyper-developed

I liked the second episode WAY more than the pilot. It's still trite and awkward and flailing, but it was a lot more enjoyable. I'll give it a few more episodes.

The third episode felt the most like a comic book. Which was fun. Also fun to see that they aren't totally shying away from adult themes. This isn't just a kids show, which is nice.

I feel like they're really rushing Penguin.

He's only nine. They are treating him like a kid who just lost his parents, sad and developing a dark side.

Yeah young Bruce is fine though he seems closer to 12-13. My understanding is they are using him more than the planned because I guess they are happy with the actor. He's used pretty sparingly. Overall I'd give the show a C but Arrow started very slowly but got good into Season 2 so I'll give this show a Season or so.

3 episodes in, I'm sticking with it for a while. The casting is great, and my 10 y.o. daughter enjoys it. They ARE rushing Oswald too much, but that's alright with me... He's a fun character, and Bruce is really beginning to develop out nicely. Selina Kyle is a dead ringer for a young Michelle Pfeiffer, too. I just wish I could understand what the fuck Alfred is saying. He's my least favorite character right now.

have subsequent episodes of this been as unintentionally hilarious as the pilot? donal logue's character's goofy hard-boiled detective lingo was priceless, and the actor who plays gordon is a non-entity.
