I watched Mike Birbiglia's "My Girlfriend's Boyfriend" recently and thought it was incredible. Really heartfelt at times.

Agreed. That was a great show and I think it pushes the boundary of what a live act can do. The whole set is one long narrative that's both poignant and funny.

I'm like 50/50 on him. Some of his stuff is really funny, but some of his stuff flirts with being annoying/odious. He also gets into some liberal political pandering, which I fucking HATE in stand-up.

Was watching the new Doug Stanhope. 1/3 awful, 1/3 brilliant, and 1/3 holy shit aristocrats joke from hell!!!

I actually much prefer Richard Pryor to Carlin. Carlin is great but he can be really annoying sometimes.
