It would just be him, still in the jungle, driving himself mad trying to track "the beast".

No thats Billy. Ponch was the little one. I always assumed the technology didn't exist at the time to give his epic death justice, so they couldn't film it. I assumed it involved the deaths of entire star systems.Kaius wrote:It would just be him, still in the jungle, driving himself mad trying to track "the beast".

Speaking of Poncho. Does anyone remember the tv show War of the Worlds? I remember it being a fairly violent proto-X-Files. The good guys usually lost. Its probably silly by today's standards, but I always thought it was pretty cool.

Ah, stupid mistake. I assumed Poncho was the Native American.
Yeah, as a kid I remember thinking, "how is Arnold going to kill this thing if Billy(thx Burt) is about to take it out?"
I was so full of hope as a child.

I remember it came on at 3 a.m. on a weekday morning on a weird "independent" broadcast channel. And I remember enjoying it. I was dropping a lot of acid then. Or maybe it was peyote. Or maybe both.BurtReynolds wrote:Does anyone remember the tv show War of the Worlds? I remember it being a fairly violent proto-X-Files. The good guys usually lost. It was a weird show. I remember an episode about a hair salon the aliens were secretly using to saw people's heads to get their brains. Good stuff.turned2black wrote:I remember it came on at 3 a.m. on a weekday morning on a weird "independent" broadcast channel. And I remember enjoying it. I was dropping a lot of acid then. I'm pretty sure my wife would have taken the cash and planned the spending before I answered.

I'd like to think she'd discuss it with me. For my part, I think I'd be okay with it. I know it's a little fucked up. I'd be devastated if she just cheated on me. But a million dollars would mean our kids' college was taken care of, the house would be paid for, we'd get in a couple great vacations, etc. It's not like I am her only partner in history. And if she's human, I'm sure she's thought of other dudes while flicking her bean. Plus, from that moment forward, I'd be able to refer to her as my little whore.LetMeSleep wrote:I'm pretty sure my wife would have taken the cash and planned the spending before I answered.

Re: Post Random Movie-Related Thoughts You Have
I still really like movies. But the idea that they are somehow a superior art form or that they ultimately mean anything is basically gone. Still they can be a ton of fun and I'm trying to keep up with as best as I can.
But I loathe going to the theater anymore. Just the worst.

I have had the opposite experience as I love it more and more all the time. I'm spoiled in that we have Alamo Drafthouse here, where they take "no talking" very seriously. Like there are celebrity spots and at least two warnings before every movie. It makes it pretty wonderful.durdencommatyler wrote:I used to really value movies and going to the movies.

In Training Day, I think Ethan Hawke had the tougher role and did a better job. And yet, the Oscar went to Denzel.
