got the "new" record today, i moved to a temporary place recently and won't be able to play records for a bit but about half the song titles i recognize as old songs. does anyone have a link to a digital copy?

The new album is available for download on itunes now. On a quick run through, there are no new songs, it's a session re-working of the entirety of Wolfroy, with the Whipped b-side thrown in. Kinda like Greatest Palace Music or Now Here's My Plan, but is seems awful early to revisit Wolfroy. I'm guessing your mileage may vary with this one depending on your love for Wolfroy.

Was kinda "meh" on Wolfroy until I heard a bunch of the songs live; big into it now. Can't wait for this to arrive...eventually.

So, I mentioned in the "RM Top 25" thread that I made a 4CD Bonnie 'Prince' Billy "rarities" mix last year, and at least one RMer took moderate interest in it so I figured I'd dangle it over here. Calling it a 4CD mix is a little misleading, because the 4th disc is just the new self-titled record and another digital-only full-length release titled "Funtown Comedown"--a live-in-studio recording--crammed onto a single disc for convenience's sake. But the first three are a nice convenient way to listen to some of BPB's many, many scattered one-offs, EP's, B-sides, 7-inch singles, etc. It is not an exhaustive collection--not only is it virtually impossible to keep up with all of BPB's releases, but there were a number of things I could only find in really, really low bitrate mp3's which even for a non-audiophile like myself just doesn't hack it. As it stands I think the lowest quality files here are the mp3's I bought myself from Drag City's website (in the ballpark of 256kbps) and a few files I bought from iTunes. So if that sort of thing doesn't bother you this is a wonderful collection of songs that are a pain in the ass to track down one by one. Contents spoilered below:

Okay, here it goes. here are the tracklists i've compiled. I will try to upload it later today, pm me for a link.
Since KD already made disc 1-3, mine starts at 4 and ends at 7. 4-6 are in chronological order of release.year. Disc 7 includedes 3 more rarities that have a really low bitrate (128 kbps) as well as two full EPs i'm not sure everyone is aware of or has heard. The EP's felt too big to put on the main 3 discs but too little to exclude. On disc 4-6 most songs are v0, but there are a few that have a constant high bitrate, and there's maybe 2 or 3 that are 192.
I also decided to include songs that might not be his own release, but where he does feature on (co) lead vocals. I'm pretty sure there's no overlap with the original rarites compilation but if anyone catches something let me know and i'll alter it before i upload it later today.

Wow, that looks fantastic, Kreng -- thanks for rounding all those up! There are a few of those that I tried to hunt down for my own comp but either couldn't find or couldn't find in acceptable quality. Also, looking at your tracklist, it looks like no small handful of those are new since last fall when my comp was made -- this guy is a machine, it would seriously be a daily task trying to keep a comp like this 100% current. I won't be able to grab this for a few days but I can't wait to give it a listen.

Also: when I was making my comp I excluded the songs from the 2005 "I Gave You" single with Matt Sweeney because I could only find them in 160, but I've since ordered a copy of the CD so I can share those tracks too sometime in the not too distant future.

Just ordered a long overdue replacement copy of the Viva Last Blues LP. Think thats my favorite of his behind The Letting Go ,Joya, and Wake.
