Watched the first two episodes of blackish.. we liked it. Very obvious but some nice turns too. Has potential to either be great or really repetitive.

Peaky Blinders. Great show. Pretty sure my wife wants to fuck the shit out of Cillian Murphy.

pretty enjoyable.

Sam Neill's attempt at that accent bothers me though.

An episode of Doomsday Preppers. Pretty sure that this guy needs to have his children taken away.

I'm re-watching The Sopranos for the first time. I'm almost to the end of Season 4 and I feel like all my favorite stuff is still to come. That's good.

Tried watching the Simpsons/FG crossover. Terrible and 10 years too late.

Hah, I'm rewatching it too (my gf's first time). We're midway through season 3 and enjoying it even more than I remembered. I fucking love this show.

One thing that struck me was how ridiculously 90s the pilot was. Already the second episode felt a lot more like The Sopranos I know and love.

Watching a pilot of a show called Forever.
The premise has real potential. And the two mains are really likeable.

The commercials for the SyFy miniseries Ascension look really promising. Looking forward to it.

I struggle to engage with genre TV that doesn't have a huge budget. SyFy's stuff usually doesn't allow me to suspend disbelief because I'm always thinking "That's a set. That thing's polystyrene. That's a plastic gun".

It's great stuff so far.

Meh, they drag it along and the season finale is lame. Got picked up for another season though

That's an interesting thought. I've noticed something similar with Sopranos-contemporary West Wing. At the beginning, West Wing functioned primarily as an episodic show. Each episode dealt with a single issue, and then the show moved on. In later seasons, I think in large part due to the Sopranos effect, it moved much more to longer, season-spanning storylines.
For that matter, The Sopranos was affected by the Sopranos effect. The later seasons are way riskier and weirder and more original than the early seasons. I'm sure that's mainly a function of a successful show cashing in on the trust that it has earned from it's audience, but I think it was also the show accepting the new boundaries of television that it had helped to create.
or something. ?

I watched the first few episodes of Last Ship, which were hilariously bad, but then the fourth or fifth episode was merely competent television, and I kind of lost interest.
