People on this board have shown themselves to be very receptive to the idea of artists doing great things well after their commercial heyday has passed. It's not their fault Pearl Jam churns out mediocrity.
But then again, you have "Pearl Jam is the only band I'll spend money on" in your signature, which pretty much says everything that needs to be said about your opinion.
Two things:
A: Pearl Jam does make it very easy to spend money on them. Maybe release_me is just lazy.
B: I am fairly convinced that RM as a whole does a great job talking itself out of enjoying anything by pearl jam.

i liked Sirens
before Ed made it a song about guitar tech abuse
Ed's basically the Ray Rice of celebrockers for what he did to Ricky Ramone in LA

Re: PJ Regrets
To be honest, though I loved CC, I regretted the demo-ish quality of Ed's vocals. For a song that's very Ed-centric, it could have done with a better performance. Agree with your point though. I think CC was recorded around 04/05 so it could have been on S/T. This fits the notion of PJ making a concerted effort to shift away from the Riot Act sound (which doesn't sit well with most of RM).stip wrote:yeah, but that was now well into the past and fits perfectly into the 'look at all the stuff we COULD be getting if only...' narrative.Heathen wrote:Just look at how easily we talked ourselves out of enjoying Cold Confession.stip wrote:Lament wrote:This is a pretty fucking stupid assessment to make given how many people on this board love work done just as late (if not later) into their careers by artists like Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, PJ Harvey, Prince, U2, Neil Young, etc.Release_Me wrote:My point was that it doesn't matter what the band does in 2014; it will never be to the liking of RM.

I regret that I can't really remember anything about Shudder To Think's opening set from when I saw the band in 1998.

I regret missing half of Brad's set supporting Ben Harper in the late 90s.

Why I didn't go see PJ in KC in 98, 2000 and 2010 or in Council Bluffs in 2006 I will never know.
Finally get to cross them off my bucket list in two days!

I remember the days when PJ Tour trips would consume me. I couldnt sit still at work. Listening to pj all week long in anticipation.
The drive to Lincoln NE for thursdays show seems like a goddamn chore. Im still going because 1) I know I will end up having a good time 2) I am not ready to quit you 3) i really want me lady to experience a pj show and 4) I really just want to make sure I get back to Denver in time on friday for the War on Drugs concert
