Agreed. The show that came with the Siamese Dream reissue is amazing. I watch it a lot.ritchiem4812 wrote:The live dvds are my favorite part of these reissues!

I really like the Pitchfork review of the Adore reissue. Good read.

Interesting.
Although it's a bit of a fallacy to say "a band whose last record sold 10 million debuted at #2." The album did debut at #2 in the US, but Mellon Collie sold a total of around 10 million copies WORLDWIDE. So that's like saying Yield debuted at #2 after No Code sold 3 million copies. One fact is America-centric, the other is worldwide...they don't mean much to each other.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins Reissues
Bought the Adore re-issue. Have only made my way through the dvd and live disc, and enjoying it so far. I'm always pleasantly surprised how much Billy smiles while playing.
Pretty much all the Adore music is new to me. Interesting so far. Nice to see an artist have such a commitment to his new music, even if it wasn't that popular with the fans. The dvd version of Bullet With Butterfly Wings is so different live that except for the words it would be very hard to recognize. I am a fan of when artists revamp old song and play them live as if they were freshly recorded with the bands current sound.
Looking forward to delving into the studio stuuf over the next few days.

Made me want to give Adore a real listen. Nothing grabbed me, unfortunately.theplatypus wrote:I really like the Pitchfork review of the Adore reissue. Good read.

I must admit - I've never given Adore much of a chance.

It was my second after Mellon Collie and I feel the same way. I liked how stripped-down it sounded after the bombast of Mellon Collie, they were good juxtapositions.VinylGuy wrote:i love Adore. It was my first Pumpkins cd, and loved it. I didnt understand at the time why it was so hated.

On disc 4. I can see how as a follow up to Mellon Collie that it wasn't well received. But damn, it's pretty strong if you just accept it on its own merits and leave any notions of what Smashing Pumpkins should be behind.

Adore is probably my favorite Pumpkins.
