Yeah, I can get on board with that. Well said.

Its a shame Edge of Tomorrow didn't do so well. It was great. Oh well, more sequels and superheroes...

Edge of Tomorrow really surprised me - much better than I was expecting

Fun movie. My wife really enjoyed it and she hates Cruise and is indifferent to sci fi

Yeah, I have seen Upstream Color. I thought it was boring as fuck. Though it's a rare movie I hate that I don't get angry about - I don't really fault Carruth for anything and it's cool that people dig it. But on a subjective level, nothing about it spoke to me at all.

I did like Primer though.

Oh man, Upstream Color was a revelation. I adored that movie. Easily, hands down, without a second thought, the best film of 2013 (for sure that I saw, and probably all around). That movie worked on me, big time.

Even though I don't like it, that movie is very much a work of "pure cinema," so its cinematic language is going to hit the viewer on a very personal, subjective level, I think. So I totally get why it would be a great experience for some people.

I don't mind him as an actor -- well, sometimes I don't mind him as an actor. Sometimes he's just the worst. But that book is... it's just... put it this way, I'd rather lick the devil's butthole after flaming taco night in hell than read another word that guy writes. Blech.

But I haven't seen the movie. And I don't know what level of involvement he had with it. Did he write, direct and/or act in it? I honestly don't know.
