The Jesus Lizard. They seem so up my alley (Steve Albini-produced noise rock with David Yow), but I always get bored when I try to listen to them.

Earth. I think there's one album of theirs that I liked but I don't even remember which one. Pentastar or Phase 3 I think. Apart from that I find them quite dull.

Bands like The Body or Terra Tenebrosa. They sound right up my alley on paper but they're just really really boring.

A shitton of ambient artists whose work look great on paper but when you listen to them it's just mellow background music.

Foo Fighters - Really like Dave Grohl and the other projects he's been involved in, but there's something missing when it comes to Foo Fighters. Not something I hate, or will turn off if it comes on, but also something I won't actively seek out.

mostly the hype.

I've got somewhat prickly tastes but I'm still coming out of the 90s alt rock tradition and iirc correctly these guys were billed as the heirs to that. Not necessarily in terms of sound, but that if you were into pearl jam and nirvana in 1993 you would be into arcade fire in 2008. Filling that same niche.

I definitely feel as though I should like Fugazi, or at least they seem hypothetically very appealing, but nothing ever really connects for me.

Arcade Fire, Kings of Leon (though, every now and then I catch a song by them at a bar every once in a while that I kinda like, so maybe I'm coming around on them), The National.

Those are the big ones.

And to a different degree, probably REM. I mean, they have stuff that I goddamn adore. But I still feel like I should be more into them than I am. They have a lot that doesn't move me in the slightest.
