Swans. There are a few songs of theirs that I do like, but overall I just find them to be a few notches shy of what they seem like they should be (if that makes any sense).

As to the question in the thread title, uhhh, I dunno. Maybe Queen? Maybe electric Miles? I'll have to think about it.

Oh, and every Blue Nile album that isn't Hats. Because I love Hats so much.

I'm not sure I feel like I should like The Beatles.Rangi Guy wrote:Oh yeah - I guess I can add Queen and The Beatles
I tried getting into AC/DC recently. I dismissed them as crappy "classic rock" as a teenager, but Steve Albini talks up Back in Black a lot so I wanted to give 'em another shot. I still can't do it. It still feels like crappy "classic rock" to me.

Maybe Blondie, considering how much I like the rest of that late-70s NY scene.

It took me a while to get into The Smiths. I didn't "get" them at first.durdencommatyler wrote:Good call on The Smiths.BurtReynolds wrote:and The Smiths. Seems like they would be something I like, but haven't gotten into them much. I haven't tried very hard, though.VinylGuy wrote:The Cure.

That's hard to do.stip wrote:what are your top 5 REM songs that you feel like should move you but don't?durdencommatyler wrote:And to a different degree, probably REM. I mean, they have stuff that I goddamn adore. But I still feel like I should be more into them than I am. They have a lot that doesn't move me in the slightest.
One, because REM song titles tend to be absurd and difficult to remember. Two, because I don't usually remember song titles easily in general. And three, because I tend to forget the ones that don't move me.
Like I said, most of their hits or really well known songs are songs that I like. Country Feedback might be a tad overrated in my estimation. Good song, but I don't get why people freak out about it. And I can never remember how it goes until I listen to it again.

After chewing on the question, I think there are a lot of bands who I, meh, kinda like I guess...but that are generally seen as great. Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, QOTSA...they're all okay. Just....okay.McParadigm wrote:REM would probably be on my list. And I don't really like Nirvana or the Smashing Pumpkins very much, though I've been told that I should.
Really, most bands that I don't like I feel pretty comfortable not liking.
I think my initial list fits into that feeling. "Oh, they're alright." Shrug.

Re: Bands You Feel Like You Should Like But Just Can't Get I
To be fair, much like Burt, I haven't REALLY tried that hard. They have a few songs I really love, but I've listened to maybe three albums from beginning to end and liked it enough not to turn it off.LoathedVermin72 wrote:It took me a while to get into The Smiths. Re: Bands You Feel Like You Should Like But Just Can't Get I
Soundgarden is another one. Maybe the biggest one. Again, other than a handful of songs, I just can't get into them. But it seems like they should be right up my alley. I mean, I like Audioslave more than Soundgarden.McParadigm wrote:After chewing on the question, I think there are a lot of bands who I, meh, kinda like I guess...but that are generally seen as great. I can't stand the Smashing Pumpkins. Don't bother making me a mix, I've tried.

I don't think this quite fits the topic, but I am astounded by the unapologetic awfulness that is the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

I've resisted carpooling for fear of sitting through a Red Hot Chilli Peppers song.McParadigm wrote:I don't think this quite fits the topic, but I am astounded by the unapologetic awfulness that is the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
Also, Dave Mathews, The Offspring, and few others that I can't think of because you said Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
