Super beautiful show. Will type more later but really wonderful show. Ed spoke a lot about gratitude and the song selection made sense. It hit home and I haven't felt like that at a pearl jam show in years.

Agreed. I cried a few times, but that usually happens at every show, not just PJ lol It just really felt magical last night for some reason. I also have a new found love for JeffStrat wrote:Super beautiful show. Will type more later but really wonderful show. Ed spoke a lot about gratitude and the song selection made sense. Re: 2014-10-09: Lincoln, NE
Another good show. I liked when they play midsize venues. It's a new place directly across the street from the Cornhusker's stadium. Tulsa had several empty upper row seats but Lincoln seemed packed in and the crowd was into it from the start. Long lines to get in as everyone got patted down. House lights came down at 8:13 and they played three straight hours. The overstage sculpture wasn't there? Seemed like there were a few setlist changes as they went along.
They nailed Go & Why Go, two high energy songs lead by Cameron wailing away. He does play fast and both songs seemed sped up but they had the manic energy to sound good doing so. No real musical mistakes tonight either. It's so much better when the band is well rehearsed. It seemed like a longer than usual first set, in part with Ed more talkative than in Tulsa, particularly about the football team or pointing out an adorable little boy with his parents in the pit. I was surprised to see Eruption midway through the first set, leading nicely into Even Flow. The Gods Dice/Half Full/Insignificance run was nice for the more hardcore fans but seemed to lose some of the more casual fans. But Betterman (still not a Couple Skate song) and Porch brought them back.
Ed took the stage alone for the first encore & I briefly got my hopes up for The End. But he picked up his harmonica and started talking about this would have been John Lennon's (74th) birthday. I was expecting Imagine but the first Hide Your Love Away at a PJ show in a while came first. Cliched or not to hear an arena sing Imagine was a special moment. It was the usual mix of songs from here on out but that didn't mean it was not enjoyable. One exception was Open All Night. I was expecting a Springsteen reference at some point but a full song was a complete surprise. And I loved it. On the boot it will sound like Ledbetter gets an extra long intro, that's because Ed's mike went out and it took him a while to get one that worked.
I had a great time both nights. Neither show particularly stood out as one of the great concerts from them but I had a good time at each. A good time with Pearl Jam is always worth my effort.
A couple pics, I like how they've started paying attention to their lighting setup the past couple tours:

If it's within reason to get yourself into the venue, I don't know why any fan wouldn't go.

So excited for this boot. It is out November 11th my Ten Club buddy says. It's tough to sum how perfect this night was for me but I will give it a shot.....
I had an amazing time. Could not have asked for much of a better show for my first PJ show. It might be the best concert I have ever been to. The encores were incredible. I freaked the hell out when a Nebraska cover was played. Much respect for Bruce. Band had a lot of energy, the crowd was much better than I thought it would be and the PJ fans I met were very cool. It's refreshing to meet passionate fans. An hour long line for merch? I have never seen anything like that before. I passed on the poster even though I love it. I will probably buy it at some point. I did get the license plate red shirt, two stickers (one for me & one for my 5 year old who loves when I crank Alive) and buttons though. I loved the beanie but couldn't drop $35 on a stocking hat. Speaking of 5 year olds there was one in the front row. It's all down hill for that kid. Eddie was very nice to him and his parents. I can't say enough good things about Matt Cameron. My Second time seeing him live (saw him with Soundgarden) and he is just great. As was everyone. Jeff had a really cool bass (the metallic silver one) that I had never seen. I'd love to see PJ again but if I don't at least I got them crossed off my bucket list. Incredibly special night. I thought of my sister a lot who passed away in 2007. She loved Pearl Jam.
If anyone in the band or associated with the band sees this....thank you. Never in my wildest would I expect one of the biggest/best bands of my generation to come to my humble city of a quarter of a million people.

Re: 2014-10-09: Lincoln, NE

didn't see tulsa, but this comment is apt for my feelings on lincoln. worth the 6.5 hr one-way trip to and from - we got there maybe an hour before the show and left shortly after - but it won't go down as one of the more memorable shows i've experienced. i will say, though, i will happily take a show with 4 binaural/riot act songs and NO avocado/backspacer songs versus the other way around!Biff Pocoroba wrote:Neither show particularly stood out as one of the great concerts from them but I had a good time at each. i like the go-why go-getaway title trilogy. getaway actually sounded good this time- last year in l.a. it seemed to fall flat. ed was directing traffic a lot during the main set, so based on the set photo above it looks like he was editing his own setlist on the fly. i have to say, since it resulted in a pretty great gods' dice/insignificance/half full run, i can't disagree with his choices. half full was probably the highlight of the show for me; for whatever reason, they seem to really nail this one every time i hear it. you got to hide your love away was a pleasant surprise (maybe shouldn't have been) and i preferred it to imagine, though we did get both. lightning bolt is a much better song than its nearest comparison unthought known, so i will gladly take lightning bolt over uk in an encore slot. the rvm tag in black was cool for what it was, and rvm itself was tight. i recognized the bruuuuuuuuuce song, but didn't remember what it was called. it seemed to be a well-rehearsed debut, pretty tight and straightforward.
tl;dr - lincoln good.

Forgive my typos earlier. Multitasking (which I suck at) while at work.
Forgot to mention earlier....
Met some awesome super fans. So cool to see. I met a dude who was at his 35th PJ show and he has NEVER heard Indifference live. Ugh.

what blew me away about this part was how ed was right on top of the lyrics when he finally did come in. for all the hijinks with the beer bottle and the second non-working mic - not to mention that this is ed, notorious lyric fumbler - how he was able to jump right in with the appropriate lyrics mid-verse was actually kind of stunning.Biff Pocoroba wrote:On the boot it will sound like Ledbetter gets an extra long intro, that's because Ed's mike went out and it took him a while to get one that worked.
