Put on Pinkerton and Maladroit at the same time and see what happens.

I'm listening to Maladroit for the first time since 2002.

6 songs in and it's fair to say I wrote this thing off WAY too easily. I kinda love this. I'm an asshole.

jk. Its alright.

Mostly with Weezer I hear overwhelming sameness, just progressively more inauthentic, watered down, and pandering. They cratered with Make Believe, though. I won't brook disagreement on that.

I'm not sure I agree with pandering. But yeah there is a lot of sameness. And I'm not sure it's out of line to argue they do get progressively more inauthentic.

Listening to Make Believe right now. And I still really like it. But it does feel like they're having a difficult time with the songs. It doesn't have the same pop and energy that Blue through Maladroit have. You can hear the struggle and weariness. Especially right after listening to Maladroit.

Wow. I am listening to Raditude right now and I was completely wrong. This album is so much worse than Make Believe. This is one of the worst things I've ever heard, by any band.

this band is devoid of value. I hate the Blue album now.

I'm just happy I saw them back in late 1996 at the 9:30 where they played all of the first two records, and Jamie. Sick show, before they all lost the plot. Its almost like they're motivated more by business choices than music nowadays. "Make Believe" is Sony's slogan. "Hurley" is a surfing company. They recorded the State Farm jingle. They play gigs opening Microsoft stores. Every band that's ever forced to manage their empire eventually loses their sense of taste, and what they release consequentially suffers from a lack of focus and creativity.
I might be able to get to an E-bow.
