It felt like a pearl jam show again. hadn't felt that way for me in a long time. Maybe st louis 10 but definitely not since 06. My girlfriend was completely blown away by the show and how powerful it was. It is the only PJ show she has seen. She was also blown away at how powerful eds voice was. She said she had never experienced anything like him coming out and singing pendulum. I thought he sounded great too. Of course, as the show moves forward his voice sinks and thats okay. Go really sounded fierce. The guitars sounded super intense. The band sounds incredible and just as if they were in their prime (of course, one may not enjoy the speed at which they play) but they play fierce and dont sound like they are mailing it in. Ever. Vedder also gives his all until his voice just cant do it but he definitely still cares about the music.
Yadda yadda. I really love Small Town in person.
So, a lot of it may have been my emotional/mental state. Being there with my GF (Terminally Ill) was wonderful and also makes such situations super intense and beautiful. However, about 15 minutes before the band hit the stage i get a text from a friend. Turns out, two of my friends went Hiking the Maroon Bells wednesday, never made it back when they should have. Reported missing. Mountain Rescure etc. So, that really led to so many emotions as it is. Ed really spoke a lot about gratefulness and living in the moment, being appreciative cause you never know when it can be taken away. etc. Really hit home. Light years, sirens, present tense - the setlist really reflected that and it seemed to put ed in a certain space. or, I was projecting. Either way, that is what its all about.
The show hit home for me and its been a long time since that has happened. Working through emotions. Really incredible show.
Oh - Drive all night was great. So glad they did that full band. Ed always sounds great on Bruce songs.
The Binaural Songs and 1/2 Full. Bup bup. Super fantastic getting those and 1/2 full is always a treat live. No backspacer or Avocado I believe?
As cheesy as it is to do Imagine - It really is beautiful and hearing an arena full of people sing it is wonderful. The communal aspect of the show is somethign special and Rachel was floored by it. Looking up in the rafters and seeing people singing and dancing and doing all the lame hand/arm gestures etc.
Im really glad that show was great. I needed it as a pj fan.
What i didnt like: RITFW. Seriously the cover is so bad now.
