Should be a new contest here. Guess the year of the setlist. And, it can only be shows from 2009-2013.

It is. That may be partially our fault (the fans in general) because it could may never live up to the expectations but I am assuming on paper it will be the biggest disappointment of their career.

Geezes christ im getting so bitter about this band. Which is irrational but my love for them over the past 20 years was irrational. The decisions they make are just absurd and i cant find one reason or another why they make the decisions they do.

Not doing the webcast? What?

Lame.

I tried listening to Ten the other night and it actually bothered me. Like it isnt even the same band and it soured my listening pleasure.

I may have been drunk and emotional. I am not sure. Still deciding .But its weird. And this is coming from strat. So ....that says something.

I think the problems I have with present-day Pearl Jam are probably insurmountable, to be honest.

I just don't really care for the way the band sounds when they play the old material, whether that's due to Ed's changed vocal capabilities or some other reason.

It's not that I don't love the songs - I've listened to Yield, Ten and a mixed CD of b-sides just in the last week or so - but when these guys play them now, I'm not feeling it.

Yeah, I don't get no webcast at all. Are we supposed to buy the bootleg when it comes out? Won't youtube video surface anyway?

I don't think they take themselves seriously enough anymore to be honest. I wish they still viewed themselves as relevant. I do think if Ed was still focused we would all give him a pass on his voice deteriorating with age. Unfortunately, I think the big reason they sound so blah these days is because they slap together these short tours and don't rehearse....

I think eds voice is still fantastic - the music they write - more times than not - just doesnt support that. . I dont expect him, nor care if he can scream DTE or Porch like he once did. No singer should be able to considering the way he pushed his voice...

It seems the problem is, as someone stated above, they dont present themselves as believing they are still relevant. They are taking the easy route for too long now. Not presenting themselves as artists. That breaks strats heart.

Perhaps.

There's lots of bands who've been together longer or are of a similar age (or older) than these guys who I continue to be blown away by, even if I recognise they've probably recorded their best work. I still feel that connection and don't doubt for a moment that they still care just as much about their music as they once did. It's too bad these guys didn't turn out like that, at least not right now.

Yeah, I haven't heard a true attempt at that since maybe Riot Act.....

I think where the band also loses the plot is not realizing there are a group of fans who still want to view them as artists and not festival party rockers. So when you don't throw that group a bone by tossing a new song on the setlist a thread like this turns into the General Pearl Jam Bitching thread instead of the the lets talk about what we thought of that new song thread....

Its true they did this with Ole'. But Ole sucked.....

They're content being a nostalgic jukebox act; whether they know it or not, they're over being Pearl Jam. I mean, Eddie Vedder's solo shows are still soulful and I bet Jeff Ament would rather write music for whatever his current band is.

I know. I'll be damned if I let any band fuck with my love for their music.

and stop talking about yourself in the third person. THAT'S what's weird.
