I really liked Mohicans and The Insider. Manhunter is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. And Collateral is a miss. Haven't seen the rest. So I'd go:

Manhunter is one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

I could understand why Manhunter wouldn't be someone's bag. It's a pretty idiosyncratic movie. Does it come off as laughable to you? I've heard other people say that.

I think it's fucking amazing, though. Gorgeous movie.

Manhunter is one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

I could understand why Manhunter wouldn't be someone's bag. It's a pretty idiosyncratic movie. Does it come off as laughable to you? I've heard other people say that.

I think it's fucking amazing, though. Gorgeous movie.

One of my best friends in this world, a dude whose opinion I respect more than most, is in your camp. He thinks it's a masterpiece. And, yeah, I found it utterly laughable. The acting (outside of Cox, who does a decent enough job) is just awful. But just about every aspect of that movie had me rolling my eyes or frustrated at its ineptitude.

To this day it's one of the biggest fights my friend and I have ever had about a film.

I would never hold that reaction against someone. I love it, but again, it's so weird and idiosyncratic that I could totally see it coming off as ridiculous.

Eh its not really that great, but its in my wheelhouse.

But any movie with Tim Curry as the Devil deserves at least an 8 out of 10.

That's probably the main reason I want to love it. Also, it LOOKS fucking beautiful. I just have trouble connecting with it on an emotional/thematic level. It's pretty, but there's just nothing else there. I'll just watch Labyrinth instead.
