I'm watching my parents' dog for them this week, so I basically just sit around at their place all night watching baseball/hockey. It's a very convenient time for me to waste away the hours.cutuphalfdead wrote:Damn, son.philpritchard wrote:Just to up the nerd quotient in this thread, I already have OFF, DEF and BsR columns in my spreadsheet. Honestly, it's a pretty easy stat to add. You'll be adding numbers for a few players per game.philpritchard wrote:cutuphalfdead wrote:And out of nowhere, a third player enters the power struggle, shattering all expectations.philpritchard wrote:I'm watching my parents' dog for them this week, so I basically just sit around at their place all night watching baseball/hockey. I ain't even gonna lie, Phil. I keep hoping your Jays turn it around, and things like this are the reason why. You deserve some good tourney karma, especially after the way your team went out in the last tournament.philpritchard wrote:Just to up the nerd quotient in this thread, I already have OFF, DEF and BsR columns in my spreadsheet. Dude....back to back World Series and what 2-3 division titles the previous 10? I had to look that up. I completely forgot the Jays won it 1992 too. They were an excellent team most of the 80s. I went to a few Yanks-Jays games back then and they always dominated. Pretty sick lineup they had.BigRedLedbetter wrote:Dude....back to back World Series and what 2-3 division titles the previous 10? Re: All-Time Franchise Baseball Tournament: DAY TEN RESULTS!
That's why I said "over the last 20 years or so." I'm 30 years old. I vaguely remember some over the '92 series and my first real baseball memories are from '93. I love the history of the team and the game and everything, but referencing what the team did in the 80's is no different than telling a Cubs fan "Hey, at least you guys won back-to-back championships in '07-'08!" It really means nothing to me because I was to young to have any memory of it.BigRedLedbetter wrote:Dude....back to back World Series and what 2-3 division titles the previous 10? I was nine years old when Joe Carter hit that home run, and I haven't seen a single Jays playoff game since. It sure started on a high note, but there's been a whole lot of disappointment ever since.

FWIW, if we keep the interest level through 60 games (and it really appears as though we will), I think this tournament can be classified as one of RMs greatest successes.
