So apparently IGN are just a bunch of whinging sooks, and most of the other reviews rave about the game. Fuck it, I'm getting it.

Yeah, hopefully. I like the whole stealth/hiding aspect, kind of like the Metal Gear Solid games. The Alien movies gave me nightmares as a kid, so it'll be awesome to experience a virtual reality of those nightmares. :D

So I got a copy of it tonight. It's the special edition with some extra content that actually looks interesting - you get to play a side mission as one of three original characters from the first movie, including Ripley.

The wife is about to explode kid #3 within the next couple of weeks, so I should get a fair bit of time on this in the evenings doing the late night feeding shift. For anyone that's interested, I may even try to post a review of sorts.

I hope the baby pops out Alien style.

Is it vaguely final fantasy tactics-y or am I totally off base?

Boy this game is immersive. The atmosphere is amazing, especially if you play this game in the dark with decent headphones on. It's not your typical run and shoot action FPS, but more of a stealth based game that has you crawling around and hiding in things, while rogue androids or the scary fucker of an alien stalks around. Great game, highly recommended.

Nice - I came to this thread hoping someone on here would have gotten this and written something either good or bad about it. If I can make through a week of not smoking I'm high fiving myself with this game.

saw videos of Halo running at 60fps and 1080p. eh, whatever. not impressed. yea, it was as smooth as butter, but looked like the game had literally no textures.

Master Chief Collection should be a blast though. can't believe i get to play the first and second online.

So there's 2 new Assassins Creed games coming out on Nov 11? Unity for the PS4/One, and Rogue for the PS3/360. The latter slipped under my radar I guess.

Fuck, i'm gonna be knifing me some random historical dudes well into the new year.

Is Rogue the follow-up to Black Flag? Because I loved Black Flag.

From what i was just reading, it fills the gaps between ACIII and Black Flag. It takes place in New York circa 1765, and has a naval component in the American river system as well as the North Atlantic.

Ah, I see. I think I'm good then. The reason I liked BF was the tropical setting and ocean stuff.

I concur. I love the whaling mini-game maybe a little more than I should.

That setting was awesome but I can see why they would want to avoid making the same game again. The series has always been great at creating immersive environments so I have no reason to think that this one would be any different. I'm looking forward to it, just wish they wouldn't release both games at once. It usually takes me a month or two to get through these open world type games so i'll have to sit on one for a while....not to mention Farcry 4 coming out a week later...looks like Ubisoft will be getting ALL MY MONEY this fall.
