I rewatched The Omen (the original) last night. That's one hell of a strong movie. Very cleverly constructed so that the question or whether or not Damien is actually the Antichrist is left ambiguous. It's also kind of Fincher-esque in the way it unravels the semi-mystery narrative at its core. I'm a big fan.

As someone unfamiliar with the Omen...

There is a scene in Wayne's World where Wayne calls Garth "Damien"

Is this a reference to the Omen and if so can anyone explain it to me?

Yes. Damien is the creepy kid in the movie who is believed to be the Antichrist. So if someone calls someone "Damien," it's meant to imply they are somehow creepy or Antichrist-like.

Ah ok. Got it. That was easy.

It's a great film. Not 'The Princess Bride' great, but still pretty great!

Yeah that's a good comparison.

Plus it has Claire Danes.

Watched Damien: Omen II (beautifully filmed trash) and Hard Rain (serviceable late '90s action/disaster thriller). Now I'm watching the documentary Weekend of a Champion, which is pretty fascinating so far.

You know I always wrote it off but you're not the first person I've heard say that. Maybe I should give it a try.
You totally should. It's a lot of fun. Very much the heir apparent to The Princess Bride.

100% agree on this. It's been one of my favorite "horror" films since I was five and it seriously holds up. Great, great film.

It's kind of mind-blowing that Big Trouble in Little China was actually greenlit, filmed, and released. This movie is so insane. The '80s were a special time, I guess.

That's it? That's the movie? It's like half a movie. The hero is a weepy, cowardly, moron the entire time and then nothing? It's all predictable setup to another shitty movie? This is the brave new world of strong female heroes in blockbusters? Lol Jesus Christ this is b movie shit.

My favorite part was when that Katniss dumbass finally got tired of her allies constantly saving her ass that she finally snapped and attacked one with a syringe. Movie magic.
