As a point of interest, I just listened to Pendulum again for the first time in a very long while, actually listened to it twice in a row. It still sounds the same to me as it did a year ago, still holds up, and I still contend that it is the best song they've released publicly in 10+ years. It evokes the same emotion and looseness as many of these demos, the PJ I want to hear.

Give me the weird, atmospheric, ethereal, vibey, loose shit.

Only Cloud in the Sky kind of reminded me a bit of a lighter version of Pendulum.

Listening to these made me realise just how much I liked Self-Titled. Recalling my first listening experience of the shitty quality leak back in 06, I can remember how elated I was that the new album wasn't like Riot Act (or Binaural).

Out of these new tracks, Only Cloud In The Sky is probably the best instrumental. The other instrumentals are ok but I don't care enough for them if Ed's not singing. The rough demos are pretty rough but they made me want to listen to the album again. 10 Billion Years made me wish it was an instrumental. In Ed's hands, it could have turned into something like Face Of Love which I really like. Stone's voice just isn't captivating enough to pull it off. It gets repetitive pretty quickly. Open Door was ok.

I'll take new PJ however it comes. This was a nice surprise.

no. good point. I forgot that binaural produced no b-sides.

The Binaural singles & b-sides were all live tracks and different mixes of LP tracks. No exclusive songs.

Can someone remind me -- were there specific Tchad Blake mixes released as B-sides that weren't on the album? Which ones? Where can I find them?

I think Insignificance got released with the Tchad Blake mix - on the Nothing As It Seems single

I like the LD ones a bit more, which has a bit of extra guitar layering in places, iirc. they're both great, though

I don't feel as though the additional guitar layering really serves the song, I like the casual rawness of the original.

Generally speaking, I'm not a big fan of much of the tinkering that took place on Lost Dogs.

Love hearing the demos from S/T. I'm a demo fan and these don't disappoint. 10 Billion Years is good. Ed singing it would be bananas. Well, it could be depending on the approach. Ed was not yet a completely annoying singer when these songs were recorded. Overall, a fun look into the creative process of a band that's way too secretive about its creative process. Need to listen more to digest it but I'd take these 11 tracks over most of LB.

It's hard to imagine what they would have done with Lucky 13. The percussion is killer throughout.
