Pretty sure the only Pearl Jam waltzes are All or None and Come Back, which I always lump together for their similar transitions to crunchy guitar soloing as well.Kevin Davis wrote:It's a beautiful song but I don't think it's a waltz.

''Rival'' is a waltz in a kind of weird, demented way.

Around the bend is lovely track - it's particularly awesome through headphones actually. Really nice production.

Love this song, and love hearing the fingers slide on the guitar strings. First song I ever played for my daughter.

doesnt the term 'waltz' specifically mean songs in 3/3 or 6/6?

Ed at Moline:
(paraphrase) Around the Bend was written as a lullaby for Zach Irons. I was writing it that way, but then I wanted it to sound a little darker. I didn't want to puss out and just write a lullaby song.
(exact quote) "There are two ways to listen to that, you can hear it as a lullaby or you can hear it as a serial killer singing to the person he just killed. 'How I want your soul to keep, off around the bend'. So, if you ever think I'm a fuckin pussy, take another listen"

Re: Song of the Moment: Around the Bend
I feel this is probably the most overrated song on probably their most overrated album. I don't think it's bad, but it's not that good either. Especially coming after the slower songs on the first three albums, a pretty big letdown. PJ ballads in that era were a thing of beauty.
Pearl Jam is the only band I'll spend money on.
