Pixar will never have my true respect until they make a movie just for adults. Watching the Congress re-affirmed this for me.

Movies that are "so bad they're good" are usually just fucking terrible.

You can convince yourself any movie is good if you try hard enough.

Or some of us rubes just like mindless entertainment sometimes. We can't all be theatrical geniuses and deep thinkers all the time like you.

i never understood why people feel a movie can only be great if it awakens some deep passion inside of you

Those points were not really directed towards y'all or anyone that enjoys mindless entertainment, sorry if you took it that way. I just kinda hate the celebration of trash ala movies like Machete. I don't really see you two engaging in that. One of my favorite movies is Major League and I love comic book movies, so...yeah. But fuck me for sharing an honest opinion in an opinion thread, right?

How do you feel about the song "Get Right" by the band Pearl Jam?

I have a weird relationship with that whole album, song is not one of my favorites of theirs.

And I'm understanding these posts more after reading some of the shit in the forum lately. I think I'm being lumped in with others, which I guess is kinda understandable, but I generally praise what I like and just ignore what I don't.

Maybe I misunderstood your post. I can clearly recognize "bad" movies, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy them. There are times when I'm down for watching "The Road" and there are other times when I've had a long week and would rather turn my brain off and just watch "Book of Eli".

Yeah, I pretty much only watch TV when I want something disposable. Even a short movie is 90 minutes. I meant more this pseudo-academic, emperor's new clothes approach to movies that are pretty obviously schlock.

:? Not gonna lie, this sounds kind of pretentious, man. I know we look at movies VERY differently, but you're basically saying "I feel superior to this movie and find it dismissible, therefore anyone who is saying there's any depth or quality in it is full of shit."

I don't think National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is funny at all. Just about everyone I know talks about how watching this movie is one of their favorite holiday traditions. I chuckle maybe once or twice during it, at most. Am I missing something?
