Haven't been able to see this band live for 8 years, but god damn that was amazing show. The last set was killer, tons of energy from the band.
I have to say, I think Eddie sounds pretty damn good. I thought he sounded better tonight than he did in '03. Only disappointing part was he screwed up Ghost a few times. He nailed Sleight of Hand.
Mike was on fire all night, for sure.
Not sure if they were lying or not, but they came out before the 2nd encore and said they just realized it was their 24th anniversary. Eddie told a story of how he played that first show on 10/22, they recorded 8 or 9 songs on 10/23, he went back to San Diego and worked at the gas station on 10/24, and put in his 30 day notice on 10/25.
Slow Lukin (with some improv in it) into normal Lukin was amazing. I'll buy the boot just to hear that again.
I don't think a whole lot of people knew what Of the Earth was.

Awesome show. Great setlist, the band was in good spirits, the crowd was loud. Can't wait for the next one.

I tend to really love the slow encores because this is where Eddie's voice is best. I personally like this part of the set, building up to Breath. Whenever I look at the setlists, it's usually Encore 1 that piques my interest.

Went to Milw and Denv.
The setlist on paper looks awesome. Sometimes didn't flow well. High energy from the band, thought Ed sounded great. Killed Sleight, if he wouldn't have missed his ques twice in Ghost he slayed that too. Not sure what that was before Lukin, everyone is saying Slow Lukin, but him and Jeff kind of collaborated when it started and got on the same page. Either way, that was awesome.

If they could've just switched out 2 of those (except Sleight) for Footsteps and something else it would've have taken this show to new heightssouthp wrote:I tend to really love the slow encores because this is where Eddie's voice is best. You guys didn't give me the heads up on Mother. I'd only heard it from Fallon and was less than impressed. That one sent the place into a frenzy.
Haven't seen them since 2008, but have listened to a few 2013 shows and didn't have the highest expectations. I admittedly had that space cadet glow, but last night was some of the best playing I've seen by the band. The jams in RVM, Porch, Even Flow and even the end of Black were so much better than I've seen. It wasn't muddy with Mike wailing away. They were rhythmic, atmospheric and focused.
The 3rd chorus of SofH will have this entire board flipping their shit. Absolutely perfect and they didn't lose the crowd for a second.
Of the Earth was a monster and really well played. Even though the crowd didn't know it, they went with it. That deep groove was a nice change after the DTE>Eruption.
I don't think that was slow Lukin. Seemed like a different song with some well thought out lyrics.
What I was most struck with were songs like Breath. I've seen it a few times and it never has sounded as good.
Cool that while Ed's voice has declined, the band has stepped up to fill the void. His mid and lower register are still so strong though and he sounded incredible all night. It is a risky thing to play for 3 and 1/2 hours. What amazed me most was once they really ripped the lid off around Even Flow, the energy didn't slip one bit.

That setlist.... it... it looks like a fucking wetdream! Holy shit! Was the show as tight as the setlist? Ah, who cares, I'm buying the boot, m'thinks.

It was incredibly tight. Matt, Jeff and Stone were working together like 7/18/06 or 7/12/03, except better.durdencommatyler wrote:That setlist.... it... it looks like a fucking wetdream! Holy shit! Was the show as tight as the setlist? Ah, who cares, I'm buying the boot, m'thinks.

I haven't purchased a bootleg for a show I didn't attend since 05. And I'm pretty sure I'm grabbing Moline and Denver for sure. Can't WAIT to hear these.
