I have a ridiculous amount of boots (not just PJ....use to be a huge obsession) and as for PJ I can only imagine how many I'd have if I was a super fan who has been to a lot of shows. I met a dude in Lincoln who has been to 50 shows and he was younger (I'm 34) than me. Impressive.

Of the Earth was a monster and really well played. Even though the crowd didn't know it, they went with it. That deep groove was a nice change after the DTE>Eruption.
I don't think that was slow Lukin. Seemed like a different song with some well thought out lyrics.
What I was most struck with were songs like Breath. I've seen it a few times and it never has sounded as good.

It is a risky thing to play for 3 and 1/2 hours. What amazed me most was once they really ripped the lid off around Even Flow, the energy didn't slip one bit.

Last night was classic pj. I had no idea what to expect and certainly was not expecting 1)that many fucking songs and 2) that many fucking awesome songs. Totally had forgotten about Of The Earth and they just blasted right into it. That song is a monster live. They just kept coming at us. Ed sounded so wonderful at the beginning of the show. Leatherman? Sleight of hand? Yes please and thank you.
I never waited in for GA and stroleld in about 7:15 or so and ended up about midway back on the floor with a perfect view. had a lot of friends at the show and it was pretty exciting. Really dont know what else to say.
I do think there were some flow problems last night in the middle of the main set, but the band was so on fire I don't think many noticed. Present Tense brought me back into the set and from then on it was great. Great version of Breath only marred by a lyric flub towards the start. Crowd exploded for Leash and Mike tore RVM a new one.
As for "Of The Earth", the middle was much tighter and sounded smoothed out like a finished song, vice some of the earlier versions, but it lacked that grungy raw opening from it's debut in Dublin that made it so memorable.

I heard some Lukin lyrics in the slow song, but heard a lot of improv too.
Ed talked a few times about legalization. He said, "Denver and Seattle are sister cities. Nice to be on the right side of history, isn't it?"
Before Setting Forth Ed told about having friends you've never met. How Pete was his friend when he was a kid. He then talked about Chris McCanlis being a friend he'd never met and mentioned that his sisters were at the show.
Brought a fans iphone onto the stage and recorded it for them.
Ed went out into the crowd during Porch.
Before Mother someone threw a joint on stage. Ed mentioned it and then gave a security guard a hard time for hassling a smoker in the front row. Something about the security guard looking like someone who has smoked. Something like, "speaking of getting high" and then they went into Mother.
Ed gave out lots of wine all night. He pulled the house lights up to acknowledge the back of the venue. He pointed out a couple of guys up there and said he wanted them to have some wine to. He asked someone backstage to get 2 bottles up there. He checked back in after a couple of songs and asked if they got it. Tough to say if it made it, but they all were happy. He asked the guy to "pour some wine on his white shirt" so we would know.
Ed also let a few fans sing. During Breath he let a couple people do the "do, do, do" part and put his hands on hips and smiled like "you can do it either".
Mike ran circles around the stage for the entire RVM jam. Ed and Jeff put their guitar necks out for him to hurdle.
Last Kiss was played to the back of the venue and Ed ran to the drum set and ended the song on the kit.
Black has a great jam at the end and a "We Belong Together" tag and Better Man had the SIFL tag.
Mike smashed a light globe during Porch and put a hole in his amp and kicked the stack down at the end of the show.
I brought a first timer and had a first timer beside me (6th row Mike's side!) I teach with a guy who went to his first show. I walked out of the venue with 2 guys who were seeing them for the first time. All of them have seen plenty of rock shows and were saying it was the best they had seen. It was cool to see it from their perspective. The power of Baba O'Riley is obviously lost on some of us old timers, but it made these guys heads explode because they had no idea it was coming.
Said it already, but so many of these songs were close to best versions I've heard. I'll have to hear the boot, but Release was absolutely perfect. Why Go and Once were intense and hard hitting. Leash was huge and Breath was a sing along ala Alive. Alos, Jeff was huge. It sounded like Entwislte up there. He stood way out on many jams (PT, LB, Porch, Ghost). He might have been doing this for years, but I've never heard him stretch it so far.
I agree with Iris about the flow. Present Tense is when I really locked in as well. They didn't lose me from PT>YL.
