yeah
a long time ago when Kim was interviewed, he promised a song called "Summation" or "My Summation"
there's also a song called "Ocean Fronts" somewhere, since a lyric for it had been posted on the then-official SG homepage in 1996 or so...
yeah he mentions some song here that i was hoping to see in this compilation
oh yeah, he mentioned quite a few in that interview :-) "I can't believe those two were never released" - so do I, Kim, so do I
guess these are waiting for another compilation... "Echoes of Aeons: Tracks Buried Under the Debris"... or something like that

Ah yes, I knew there were a few more that Kim had mentioned in the past that did not make this album, which is a shame. That said (and this probably sounds silly), I wonder if they're saving some of the older unreleased stuff for possible reissues of Louder Than Love or Badmotorfinger. One of the only conclusions I could make as to why the amount of unreleased stuff is rather sparse.

The other reason could be that not all of the bands members cared for those unreleased songs and didn't want them released.

BTW, got an email this morning that the set is available for pre-order but their store still isn't showing it listed. I'm curious to know what the $ damage will be this time....

From what I always understood this compilation was never intended to be an "unvaulting" of previously unheard material, but rather a collection of existing rare material.

Beast, Oceans Front, and Summation are all early songs (pre SL?) that hopefully will come out as part of a separate release. Kim mentioned something about releasing those songs as a group, either re-recorded or in their original form.

Looks like there will NOT be a vinyl release? :?

All I'm seeing on their site right now are CD bundles...

Been waiting a long time for this one. A long time!

Always thought it would be called 'Besides...' or something like that...

Can't wait for Kristi

And Storm is fantastic! Sounds vintage to me... :luv:

Yeah I'm digging Storm as well. Prices for the pre-order are as gouging as I expected but naturally I'm going to give in.

I hope the studio version was recorded back then and not recently.
Agreed. This is probably the most exciting part of this release.

Taking in everything from original B-sides to unreleased tracks, instrumentals, covers and demos, the collection was curated and hand-selected by guitarist Kim Thayil, who says:

"As album sets go, this one has been fun to collect and compile over the decades. I personally may have referenced this project a number of times over the years, going back almost twenty of them to the mid-nineties!”

For the first time, Echo Of Miles collects and curates all these “scattered tracks across the path”, offering a different slant on the 26- year history and evolution of one of alternative rock’s finest bands.

The package has once again been beautifully designed by Josh Graham. The set features three separate thematic discs in a clear plastic slipcase with three separate mini-jackets, each sporting its own unique art, a booklet and inserts, allowing you to mix and match your own album graphic layout.

Disc 1, dubbed “ORIGINALS,” is filled with Soundgarden-written songs, mainly B-sides, in addition to two unreleased songs, “Kristi” and “Storm.”

Disc 2, “COVERS,” offers a stellar showcase of songs written by bands that Soundgarden love and admire, from The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, The Doors to The Stooges, the Ramones and DEVO.

Disc 3, “ODDITIES,” offers instrumentals, remixes and demos, including Steve Fisk's unreleased “The Telephantasm (Resurrection Remix)”, “Twin Tower,” penned by Matt Cameron, which was originally recorded at Seattle’s London Bridge studio in December 1988 during the sessions for Louder Than Love, and “Night Surf”, an instrumental performed by bassist Ben Shepherd.

I guess Black Days III and Karaoke are on the oddities disc so we have reason to listen to that disc more than once.

So if you only pre-order the CD set ($75 w/ shipping and tax), you don't get an "exclusive" download of Storm. What a bunch of fucks.

The price of the CD box set is outrageous. I mean, really? $60 for 3 CDs? I've paid less than that for bootleg box sets. I bought the Yo La Tengo 3-disc box set for like $18.

I'll wait until I see this at my local record store.
