I am now prepared to call Killing Season great.

It's grown on me considerably since last week--a grower for sure. The interlude is awesome.

I'm going to two shows this year and I'm fucking stoked to hear Sad Lover live.

I'm with you on everything but the first two. Torn Red Heart, Wild People, and Waltzing in Blue haven't grown on me like I had hoped, but I really like the Floor of the Ocean - Seventh Day Run (I'm surprised how much I've come to like floor of the ocean), and Death trip to Tulsa. Having said that, this reminds me a bit of Scraps at Midnight, where the whole is greater than the individual sum of its parts. It's a pretty satisfying listen from start to finish, even if there aren't songs I'm dying to seek out.

And Dry Iced is good and Sad Lover is great.

I'll have to look at the album notes this evening, don't have them on me at work. Pretty sure that's the only song Irons was on. I believe Mark's girlfriend, Shelly Brien, sings backing vocals on Floor of the Ocean, Seventh Day, and Waltzing In Blue. The latter of which also has Johanness backing as well. Yeah its not an easy album. You need to give it time.

Blues Funeral was a shocker too, because the electronic elements were weird at the time. But goddamn, there are really cool songs here...and i agree; its the sums of the parts that makes them great, but some of them are going to sound great live.

I've had a few more spins and it's pleasing but it's totally not interesting. I've gotten over the bad lyrics but his vocals still sound very lazy and the music is very limited too. This is easily his least excitable album to date for me. Johannes was a perfect companion for Blues Funeral but he needs to get someone new in.
