Technical talk for the layman is maybe my only favorite part of RM.

Go on...

I meant Ed, but your gif was good too.

PS 1 Sarge is enough. Continue to post using words please.

I'm not keen on Eddie's guitar playing. It's quite sloppy and, frankly, is like Mr T trying to play a cello.

Yes, there's a gif for it.

I like his sound, and he can give you Pete Townshend windmills or intricate fingerpicking from song to song. If I had one gripe about recent Pearl Jam albums or concerts over the last decade, its that they've kind of dial down the gain and distortion a little bit, but its not a huge deal. Solid sound, good player.
I might be able to get to an E-bow.

I remember reading early his guitar was more for show than anything else. Even if that's bullshit, I never thought he was that great a player.

I remember driving away from Minneapolis in 1998 and the guy on the radio was talking about the concert, saying "Eddie Vedder was playing guitar… He was actually playing guitar! I thought he would just fake it, like Bono."

Guy was seriously jazzed up about it.

it was a pretty big deal when eddie started playing; he'd never done so during the ten era (minus like, bridge school or maybe a preset). felt like he learned to play overnight.

Yeah, small town really needs three guitars. I always thought it was kind of a prop for the first few years and that he was always at lower volume than Mike or Stone. Kinda like what Courtney was doing in that video from a few weeks ago.
