April Fools, RMI hope no one is too broken up by this. I do feel a little bad.

I'd rather talk about how the organizers of this have so much free time on their hands.

Re: talk about the leaked demos
Caution: long post about a topic that doesn't really merit such a response.
Also, I just woke up.
It would hardly have been side-splitting, but this would have been a great deal more successful had B just put that fake story up on April 1, preferably with the MP3 links working properly. We could all have chuckled for a moment, agreed that it was done a great deal more successfully with the Backspacer "7 Song Sampler" and forgotten about it.
But the build-up, the stip reviews of the songs, the forum discussion? All of this didn't make it funnier, it makes what should be a light-hearted jape completely leaden and unfunny. This isn't just dumb, it's hard to actually understand on the terms of it being a joke at all - where is the amusing part, save for the fact that there are, in fact, (gasp) NO DEMOS? A-hahahahaha!!!...?
Like Blenny A said above, just deceiving someone doesn't make something a joke. At least, not a very amusing one. This kind of thing works best when the person being "pranked" can laugh at themselves because their acceptance of whatever the scenario is was, in retrospect, foolish and unreasonable - like the example above, anyone can say they were an idiot for believing something B put up on April 1st wouldn't have been a rick roll, etc. But building this up for a week or two, strenuously denying it's not a hoax again and again, then doing the reveal on April 3rd? I, uh, don't get the funny part (except for B fucking up the streaming links.)

I have to admit, this was my first thoughts upon realising it was a rick roll; that it was part of some larger metajoke that pranked people's (supposed) expectations that it was a prank and the real songs would shortly be revealed. Then it sunk in that, nope, this was actually "the joke." Uh, good one!--- wrote:this would be great, and part of me hopes that they're waiting to spring the next phase of just such an elaborate schemenah wrote: like rickrolling the rickroll? so if these are real and b and stip now say they are fake, only to later say, 'they're real, and they're spectacular' we would then have to bow down to their elaborate abra cadabra?

Re: talk about the leaked demos
i bet it took stip way less time to make this stuff up than it does for him to do a write up on actual songs. so if free time for this is problematic, we have to question the entire premise of this board.stonefury wrote:I'd rather talk about how the organizers of this have so much free time on their hands.
