Re: MLB
October of 2003 was one the strangest, most emotionally turbulent months of my entire life. And it felt really weird that the playoffs seemed to be moving in sync with it.numbers wrote:03 has gotta be the best playoff year ever.

Re: MLB
With Bonds on deck made no sense. One of the coolest sports moments for me that did not involve one of my favorite teams was this. Just a thrilling finish and I was so happy for Pudge. That image of him all intense like and holding the ball was badass. I will go to Cooperstown when he gets in.Lament wrote:To this day I still cannot fathom why he sent JT Snow.

Bonds is probably my favorite athlete of all-time, so this is actually one of the most painful baseball memories ever for me.
I carry around a picture of JT Snow laying face down in the dirt & wallowing in exhausted failure in my songwriting book. It's such an amazing photo, and I can't seem to find it anywhere on the internet right now.

I dig Bonds as well. I was rooting for the Halos the year before (Erstad) and just figured he'd get a ring eventually. I was actually in attendance in 97 in Texas for the first ever interleague game. Glad I got to see Barry play.Lament wrote:Bonds is probably my favorite athlete of all-time, so this is actually one of the most painful baseball memories ever for me.

Yes I know the photo. Great shot. I did not know you were a songwriter. I fancy myself a writer as well.

I still remember sitting in my apartment in College Park, Maryland in my Giants hat and watching game six of the 2002 World Series go down the drain just moments after being like "Oh my God...Barry is gonna get a ring. He's gonna get a ring, win World Series MVP, and retire*." Ugh, what a crappy night.
*I still believe to this day if they'd have won that series, he'd have retired immediately afterwards.

I do agree he probably walks away after a ring in 2002. That would have made sense.Lament wrote:I still remember sitting in my apartment in College Park, Maryland in my Giants hat and watching game six of the 2002 World Series go down the drain just moments after being like "Oh my God...Barry is gonna get a ring. I was surprised they took Russ Ortiz out in that game. Yes that pen was great all year (Rodriguez/Worrell/Nen) but I was not expecting that. Dusty being Dusty.
I had a brief conversation with Darin Erstad about that game once. He said all the Angels players were excited to get Ortiz out of there because he had them off balance.

I'm only going to do batting stats for batters right now. No fielding, no pitching. I'm caught up through the first two games, and I'll dig in more Monday night.

What does everyone want their teams to do in the offseason?
