it was good in an 'independent film' way - by which i mean that it's the kind of movie i'd search out on the independent film channel because most big movie studios wouldn't want to make a movie about typical teenage behavior that didn't include fucking an apple pie or whatever nonsense.
there wasn't anything terribly dark or depressing about it which i was glad for, and there wasn't anything awkwardly slapstick about it either - also a plus. it was no more or less than an open door to view the goings on of what i assume people are like these days within this age group- and i appreciate that.
it wasn't until after i watched it that i looked up some info about it and saw that franco had written the book as a series of short stories that happen within that social circle so it was a little more satisfying within that context.
i was only unhappy with the shortness of the ending. watching big screen movies (mostly) i've come to expect resolution at the end of a movie - but don't see that as taking away from the film itself

I watched Chill Factor the other day. Surprisingly, it was a legitimately good, fun '90s action thriller with pretty great chemistry between its buddy leads (Skeet Ulrich and Cuba Gooding, Jr.). I would love to see them together again.
Just received my press pass for the Mar del Plata film festival. I'm getting really pumped.
They haven't revealed the full lineup, but the few films they've announced so far seem interesting. No Land's Song, The Overnighters, Watchers of the Sky, Parole de Kamikaze, The Square... this festival is always a good time, always some surprises.
