I wish I had benched Nettles earlier in the season. Stirnweiss was a 2B who played very little third during his career, but no errors over the last two games with him at the hot corner. His bat and speed are much nicer than Nettles's.
Nice to see the Yankees bats come alive for the first time in a while.

I knew nothing of Snuffy Stirnweiss other than his awesome name before this tourney started. He had some great years in the 40s.

I was looking at Stirnweiss' baseball reference page because I too know virtually nothing about him, and was surprised to see he led the AL in slugging percentage one year with a .476.

Yeah, you can't really hold Gibson responsible for giving up three runs to a lineup with Dimaggio, Ruth, Mantle, and Gehrig in the middle of it.
