christopher nolan will never make a masterpiece

he's too concerned with verisimilitude, which is a fine trait for a writer, but a director's power comes through the usage of imagery. exhibit a: inception, a movie trafficking in the manipulation of dreams. nolan felt the need to elucidate the RULES OF DREAMING. a more imaginative director wouldn't have felt the need to constrict dream-like imagery so clinically. it was a documentarian's treatment of a sublime idea.

The Prestige and The Dark Knight are masterpieces.

Exactly. I like that with Good Will Hunting. My favorite movie and I have seen it a billion times but if it's on I stop flipping channels.
