Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

I intend on eventually reading the Carlin one (my dad apparently read it so there's a copy of it at my parents' house, which is odd because he's not a Springsteen fan). I still haven't read the Morrissey one yet though. And if I don't read the Morrissey one by the time I get the John Lydon one, the Moz one will have to wait. I want to read the Townshend one too (another one I saw sitting arounf at my parents' house). I might read the Springsteen one before the Townshend one though.

PJ20, The CH bruce one, the Keef one and Shakey. Keen to read all of them and have been for 3.5 years now. Infact, since my boy was born I've only read the Kevin Davis book :D

It's a nice souvenir -- well-put together, and reasonably priced as hardcover coffee-table-type books go. It seems like the band was pretty involved with it too, so there is some enjoyable commentary that gets a little more specific than they were able to (or willing to) in the film. Don't expect any major revelations from it-- like the whole PJ20 project, it ultimately comes across as a celebration of the band thrown by the band for the band -- but overall I found it worthwhile.

I found myself with 3 copies of the PJ20 book so I gave 2 away at a recent garage sale we had. It was nice getting the happy reaction from the 2 people who got the copies for nada. They'd both picked up the book and said "PEARL JAM!" and were stoked when I said they weren't allowed to pay for it. Gotta get my karma points from somewhere.

I read two pages of the PJ20 book on Google Books and was glad to have saved my money.

Been listening to The River record a lot recently. I think it's a majorly flawed gem. So much flabby, forgettable stuff, super-party anthems next to devastating songs of loss. For me, the track listing is all over the place. So - you know - I re-jigged it.

For me, it only really works with an "Up" and and "Down" side. Side one is awesome for running, or getting ready to go out, and dancing around your room. Side two is sublime Springsteen confessional magic.

Side one.

1. The Ties that Bind
2. Hungry Heart
3. Sherry Darling
4. Sherry Darling
5. Crush on you
6. Out in the Street
7. Fade Away

Side Two.

1. Stolen Car
2. The River
3. Independence Day
4. Point Blank
5. Drive all night
6. Wreck on the highway

I mean, Jesus, that side two is fucking GOLD.

Have you heard the "Tracks" version of "Stolen Car?" Different, but far superior in my mind.

Also I hope that one of those "Sherry Darling"s is "Jackson Cage," probably my favorite track on that album.

Born in the usa is far from mediocre.. song or album

I guess the song would be if you saw it in the light of the average person who thinks the lyrics are patriotic
