Based on all the love in this thread, I tried to revisit IR yesterday.

Still wasn't feeling it. "Weird Fishes/Arpeggi" is a great song, but the rest bores me. You guys say it's a perfect mix of guitar and bleep bloop, but for me it's just the less interesting part of bleep bloop with light jazz guitar and drums over it. This probably sounds ridiculous to some of you, but it comes off a little easy listening to me. Nowhere near the emotional intensity of HTTT or Kid A.

Amnesiac is definitely the one I grab most often. I just fucking love that album so much. Amnesiac, Ok Computer and In Rainbows are my top three. The order constantly changes. All three of them are lights out, brilliant, powerhouse, masterpieces.

Yes, it does sound ridiculous. But to each their own. I'm just glad you like Radiohead at all.

What do you guys mean when you're talking about bleep bloops in In Rainbows? Electronic parts in songs? Are there any bleep bloops except for the drum machine on 15 step? Sounds like a full band effort to me otherwise.

No, you're right. I'm realizing that my "perfect mix of guitar and bleep bloop Radiohead" means that there aren't many "bleep bloops" to speak of.

But 15 Step if the perfect example of this mix that appeals to me. I don't mind the electronic side of Radiohead, but I need some guitar in there to draw me in.

It'd be so cool if they could find a way to integrate the better parts of their bells n whistles with some innovative guitar based songs...

If you fellow In Rainbows fans haven't already got it, you owe it to yourself to check out the Bonnaroo 2006 soundboard bootleg that surfaced a couple of years back.

The version originally shared had inexplicable shifts in levels and other glitches, but this version has been fixed by my man JWB :nice:

What do you mean by recent? There are tons out there but not a lot from the IR or TKOL tours. On the other hand, there is a ridiculous and welcome amount of FMs and SBDs from 2000-2003.

Two of the best post 2006 SBDs audio-wise are the ones that the band kindly gifted for fan-made DVD projects:

Prague 2009:
http://www.radiohead-notforprofit.com/2 ... c-mp3-dvd/

Roseland Ballroom 2011:
http://100greatestbootlegs.blogspot.com ... =radiohead

The latter site also has an audio rip of the excellent first Basement Session :nice:

Count me in with the In Rainbows fans. While I can't really comment on Pablo Honey or The Bends (the former I've never bothered with, the latter I've heard a few times, but don't really like outside of a few songs), everything leading up to In Rainbows felt like a band trying on a bunch of different hats to see what they liked. In Rainbows, by contrast, sounded like a band discovering their true nature. The King of Limbs was sort of an extension of that, while pushing forward to explore new depths.

I don't know if I want to live in a world in which IR is considered superior to OC, KA, Amnesiac, and HTTT. That's just wrong.

a lot of wilco fans say that being there is their favorite wilco album because they want to look cool and subversive. the radiohead equivalent is in rainbows. i immediately suspect anyone who makes that claim of posturing. the fact that birds in hell is doing it adds credence to the theory.
