It's for the kids and recruits though. They like that sort of thing. I'm the same way though. I prefer classic looking unis. I'd love to go back to the jerseys we had in the 70s with the stripes on the shoulders. Think Colts jerseys but red.Monkey_Driven wrote:They were slightly better, but I much prefer the traditional look. I like the traditional Nebraska uni's but they need to ditch the all white on the road look. Red pants for the win.BigRedLedbetter wrote:It's for the kids and recruits though. This is only sort of true. I think it's been pretty well documented that the flashy uniforms Oregon started rolling out helped to put them on the national radar even before they started playing good football. But that only put them on the radar. It was the facilities that Nike poured money into and the staff that still actually got those recruits. Meanwhile, the best players still go to the Alabamas and LSUs of the world where the uniforms are as traditional as ever.BigRedLedbetter wrote:It's for the kids and recruits though. 10-15 years ago, when it might have been rare for a midlevel team to have flashy uniforms, that kind of thing may have made some degree of difference. I don't think it does anymore. So many schools, even tiny ones, have ridiculous/flashy designs. That alone isn't unique. I know there are always videos of the kids getting hyped up to wear those ridiculous special jerseys, even at places like Nebraska and Michigan, but athletes can use anything to get themselves pumped. No one is choosing to go to UM or Nebraska because they wear some ridiculous Adidas design once a season.

Re: 2014 College Football Season
I will meet you half way here. When you are Bama and LSU these days you have a better shot at winning then Nebraska and Michigan. Different unis won't help you land 5 star recruits. At end of the day it will come down to the best fit for the kid. It does generate some buzz though. The extent of that buzz? I'm sure someone in an athletic dept could answer that.mray10 wrote:This is only sort of true. Bittersweet game today. Looks like Bo saved his job. Not that I was rooting for my Skers to lose but I do want to fire Pelini and hire Scott Frost and see what happens. It's time and we will never be better than this with Bo in charge. Too stubborn and too much of an emotional roller coaster. Oh well nice W. Hell of a game for true Freshman DeMornay Pierson-El after his key fumble last week. Kid is a dynamic playmaker.

So glad Mississippi State were exposed as the frauds they are. Now if Mizzou can somehow beat Alabama.

I agree that there are no clear cut elite teams this year, but MSU's run was built entirely on a house of cards.....

Oh man, how awesome would it be if Ohio state and Florida state lose? Then we could have two teams from a conference that got rid of their conference championship game in the final four
