I like Lasseter and think he has done a really good job cleaning up Disney Animation. But his insistence on making Cars (and now Planes) crap is infuriating.

Merchandise movie.
True. It works though. And as his first film I've fallen for it

Melancholia
Snowpiercer
Gravity
Prince Avalanche
Boyhood
Surprised you liked Snowpiercer.
You didn't like it? I thought it was badass, and it made me realize that Chris Evans is the man. (Captain America 2 helped, also.)
Oh, I loved it. But post-apocalypse movies aren't what I think you would like after reading some of your lists.
I really don't see myself as some kind of snob, and I definitely don't mean to give that impression here. I try to take every movie on its own terms, without bringing too much of my own shit into it. I like something if it's compelling. And when you watch a lot of movies, seeing the same stories and tones and sounds and characters over and over again stops being compelling. It's hard to be original. When something works, it works. Snowpiercer worked.
And I love post-apocalyptic stuff! In general, it's one of my favorite genres!

Close. The Master and Blue Valentine.

You should check it out. Great little movie. And it contains Evans's best performance to date.

We'll be making our way through the Diary Of A Wimpy Kid Trilogy this weekend. I assume those were on LV's short list.

OK, I'm officially done taking movie recs from LV. Sorry. This was a very pedestrian flick. And Evans's best performance? There wasn't a lot there.

which, given our political sensibilities, is sort of amusing. i'm glad to have you, dev, asher, nate, etc. to keep the conversation lively and interesting, whether or not we all agree
