Re: The Cinematic Motion Picture News Thread
For the same reason that the miniature models, hand-made costumes, and old-cinema tricks in the Lord of the Rings looked substantially less cheap than the CGI-heavy Hobbit movies.durdencommatyler wrote:"how is it possible that the special effects looked VASTLY better in 1990 than they do now?"
Because "seamless" is no longer a part of the vocabulary, when creating big budget effects. It seems like they go the opposite route..."we need to get our money's worth out of this CGI, so for god's sake make sure people can tell it's CGI!"

Maybe we should start a betting pool on whether or not I'll like it.

It is cool to finally see the open park idea come to fruition. Every other aspect of it looked rehashed and regurgitated.

Please please please have Jeff Goldblum make some kind of sarcastic remark in a post-credits stinger.

Re: The Cinematic Motion Picture News Thread
The park being open is going to be the biggest missed opportunity of the whole thing, I think. I really love the idea of finally seeing that. Even though it does totally contradict the whole point of the first one. Still, mankind, money, all that. It makes sense and it's a nice (if obvious) premise.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Legacy of Hatedurdencommatyler wrote:Kaius wrote:It is cool to finally see the open park idea come to fruition. Is Chris Pratt meant to be the little annoying kid from the first movie, all grown up?

The Lost World is a shitty movie, but it actually has some amazing cinematography.

Re: The Cinematic Motion Picture News Thread
And I loved the tongue-in-cheek monster movie of it all. A wonderful homage to King Kong. But, yeah, it's a shitty movie. Watchable but only because it knew it was a shitty movie and was trying to be fun and campy and whatnot.turned2black wrote:The Lost World is a shitty movie, but it actually has some amazing cinematography.

He plays a character called Mutt Williams, who shows up inexplicably at a train station just as Indiana Jones is on his way out.dimejinky99 wrote:Is Chris Pratt meant to be the little annoying kid from the first movie, all grown up?
