Requested by absolutley no one, my shot by shot thoughts:
Opening voiceover: a bit over the top, but too early to judge since I have no character attatched to it
Black panicky storm trooper: that felt like the most fan made moment in the trailer--terrible opening choice. I do like that the old probe droid sound effects are in the back, but it also adds to the fan made feel. I'm gonna need more than a 3 second shot to think of storm troopers as characters
Volleyball droid: well, it's cute
Storm trooper drop zone: a bit video gamish. Didn't really feel like Star Wars. So far not working for me.
The chick on the speeder: okay, this was good. Don't know who she is but it felt authentic. The same frontier used car feel of episode 4, with enough of the same asthetic to call out the original trilogy without apeing it
X-wing squadron: the space battles were original trilogy highlights and terribly done I. The prequels. Glad to see the x-wings and digging the idea of atmospheric combat. Something I,d doing something new
Evil Jedi: the light saber hilt will need to be seen in action. I guess enough Jedi lost hands that this seems sensible, but it also echoes the 'new shit to do with light sabers' prequel issue. I will say that one shot has more atmosphere than all of the prequels combined
The falcon: okay, I pop every time this appears along with the theme, and the shot threading between the tie fighters is cool.
By the end Im excited. And, as others have said, it definitley has a more dusty and tactile feel compared to the prequels, which, while situated in the universe and populated with familiar characters, never felt like Star Wars. That's bracketing the terrible writing and acting. Even if that was nailed there was something too glossy about the prequels. It looks like Abrams may have nailed the experience. I trust him to also tell a fun story
See, I really loved the opening of the teaser. The VO is really nice. The music cue actually made me jump a bit. I LOVED seeing a stormtrooper without his helmet and out of context. Great emotion. So many questions. Great visual. I'd be fine if it was the first shot of the whole damn movie.
The Falcon and the tie-fighters and all of that is fun, sure. But it didn't move me as much as the more mysterious new elements: the trooper, the VO, the new villain, the new saber, the unfamiliar settings. But I did get a kick out of the girl on that new speeder. That looked amazing. New but felt right, felt familiar in the right way.
Of course, the theme gets me every time. No matter how far apart Star Wars and I drift, that song is permanent thread. Always love hearing it.
Pretty excited, all told. I keep getting more and more excited, almost in spite of myself. Should be a damn fun movie.
You guys, I don't think that's going to be an actual stormtrooper. I'm thinking it's some kind of New Hope-esque disguise situation. Aren't all real stormtroopers supposed to be Jango clones?
The stormtrooper in question is a real stormtrooper and questioning everything and his role in whatevers going on, according to leaks that appeared pre-teaser. He's a main character, so no doubt the stormtrooper role gets dumped early.
That was the premise...no idea how theyre getting around it..
look closely at the trailer..each stormtrooper helmet while the same design, is actually built to scale for the wearer, so maybe there's a new trick..
the thinking is, there's a new republic and real people are taking back and inhabiting all the positions...yet the troopers in the trailer are about to lay waste to a village with flamethrowers, so who knows..
I'm not 100% up on what's cannon anymore, but I think it's fairly well know (?) or established that Storm-troopers stopped being clones after the Clone Wars.
Maybe someone else can confirm or correct me on that.

That first shot of the helmetless trooper is genius. It's raising all manner of questions. They knew exactly why they were doing by opening with that clip. And that's the part that intrigues me the most. Fuck you JJ.

Yeah that was probably my favorite part of the trailer.
