Earlier this week it was reported by Good Morning America that the voice in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser trailer was actor Andy Serkis.

We now can provide some more information concerning the character he plays. We reached out to our sources, and here are some tidbits about the character, as well as how he relates to some other characters in the film.

Andy Serkis’ character basically looks like an old man, zombie like, almost risen from the dead.
He is being referred to as “Uber”, similarly to how Ridley is being called Kira and Nyong’o is being called Rose.
“Uber” has communication with Adam Driver’s Sith character, and a character played by Domhnall Gleeson. Serkis potentially is the Master pulling the strings from behind the scenes.
All three characters are part of the new “Empire” which Gwendoline Christie’s character is also a part of. She is confirmed to be playing a Chrome Trooper.

Now that we have the trailer for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, speculation has run wild about what roles each actor will have in the film. One who has attracted a lot of interest is Andy Serkis, who's voice was confirmed to be the one we hear in the trailer. But according to our friends over at Jedi News, that voice over is from just one of the characters he will be portraying in The Force Awakens. They are reporting that he will playing two different characters in the film:

"...Serkis will be playing more than one role in The Force Awakens. One of those roles is, as expected, motion capture based - and in that role he will be part of a "group of unbelievably athletic and acrobatic motion capture characters." Also bringing those characters to life is parkour expect Pip Anderson, and "whom I [the source] believe to be Crystal Clarke." The second role for Serkis sees him take on a "pivotal role in the first act story arc that entwines with Daisy Ridley's backstory," and that role "may have more to it than it seems in the first instance.""

Andy Serkis is both a seasoned actor in addition to being a legendary motion capture actor, so it will certainly be interesting to see him show off more than one of his talents in the same film. It's also good to hear Pip Anderson and Crystal Clarke mentioned, who's roles we've very little about thus far. As always, Jedi News urges taking this report with a grain of salt, and we agree. It's not official until Lucasfilm confirms it.

You can see Andy Serkis in The Force Awakens a little over a year from now when it hits theaters on December 18th, 2015!

Spoiler Man also indicated that, in February, everything he said will be confirmed and accompanied by many more spoilers. February is when the British folks who worked on the film will no longer have anything to do with it contractually, so information will likely come pouring in. He also indicated that the first trailer would be released on May 1st. As of December 2nd, this has been confirmed.
What do you all think? I'm inclined to believe a lot of it in light of the concept art's validity and the content of teaser. Not only that, but I think this would make for a pretty good film with a whole new feel than the previous trilogies.

I remember chatting with some graphic guys who worked on Eps I, II and II and they were utterly shocked about the confidetiality clauses they signed. They weren't supposed to even discuss it outside of their offices/studios.

And giving the actors the day's scripts on the day is a stupid way to shoot. Especially when you aren't shooting in order.

I understand that from a security point of view but it must be a pain for the actors. I know on LOTR things were being rewritten constantly, so it became normal to wake up to rewrites slipped under the actors doors, but in this day and age, they probably cant afford to do it the traditional way.

I think that shows in the final product. I watched Ep. 3 with my kids yesterday. Good Lord the dialog is atrocious. It's bad beyond words.

Seriously. People always say III is so much better than I and II, but no. The dialogue is at its absolute worst in that thing.

My favorite moment is when Obi-Wan is on that planet the Sith are hiding on and they ask him what he wants. He says something like, "Oh, I just need to refuel. ...And to use your planet as a base of operations." He just sort of casually throws that rather massive request in on the tail end of his sentence like it's nothing. And the guy he's talking to doesn't seem to mind. So bizarre.

I'm not trying to be hyperbolic, but I genuinely don't remember a single "good" line of dialogue from any of the three prequels. I'm sure there must be a few. But even if there are, they're probably so poorly delivered that they sound terrible and throwaway and forgettable.

I still think Ep III is the "best" of the three prequels. But that isn't a compliment. It's not a testament to anything happening on that screen. It's akin to saying I'd rather have a bout of diarrhea than projectile vomiting. I'm not a winner either way.

At least Episode I had Darth Maul and Jar-Jar. And the pod race. And "Duel of the Fates". And Liam Neeson. I like that movie.

Oh I hate that movie so much. But yeah, I'd agree that the dialogue is better. It declines as the movies progress, for sure. And Darth Maul should have been one of the best things about all of Star Wars ever. Totally underutilized, a wasted opportunity. Still, great character. And Neeson sure tries his hardest, god bless him.
