if you like science fiction at all go out and get everything by Ursula Le Guin. also on that list is Sheri Tepper, Elizabeth Hand, and Octavia Butler - very different writing styles all of them but all well worth the effort. I'd also include Nancy Kress for at least her "Sleepless" books - Beggars in Spain, Beggars and Choosers and Beggars Ride - a very good series. I like her other stuff also, or a good portion of it, but her stand out novels are those three.Dscans wrote:http://www.buzzfeed.com/jenniferschaffer/read-more-women
I was reading this Buzzfeed list, If You Like This Book By A Man, You’ll Love This Book By A Woman and thought to myself, I read plenty of female authors. Then I went to my book collection and realized all I had for female writers was The Fountainhead and a book of poetry I had to buy for a class (which I like and ended up keeping).
So my next book is going to be something by Annie Moore. Who are the best female authors out there?

Just finished Girl with all the gifts by MR Carey.
Took a while to get going but couldn't put it down once it did. Weirdly abrupt ending but overall I liked it.

If you enjoy that I would recommend The Plague. I actually enjoy that book more than The Stranger.durdencommatyler wrote:The Stranger by Camus. Finally.

Re: What are you currently reading?
Interesting. Camus came to my attention via a quote from The Fall. I thought that would be my first book by him, but everyone seems to agree The Stranger is better. Guess I need to read all three and decide for myself.tommymtcom wrote:If you enjoy that I would recommend The Plague.
