This is why I trust JJ Abrams. Purists may not like his Star Treks, but no one bitches about the dialog. It will never seem as fake and shoehorned as the prequels. It can't sink the franchise any further. Episode 7 can ONLY improve this mess.

And then the magic Tribble blood, which we will probably never use or refer to again. And the way plot is rushed by in hurried summary exposition, like a video game cut scene hurrying to get to the next level of mission play. And...

Look, the one thing I can credit Abrams with is that he's a good actor's director. He gets performances great enough that the stories he tells aren't worthy of them. That's already a step up from the prequels.

Oh I know it's true. I despise those movies. II and III are bad, but not on the same level. And I like Episode I.

But, as you referenced in your original post, I'm something of a Trek "purist," if that's how you want to phrase it. Or...phase it.
