Maybe we should settle this outside.

Technically a scribe is just some guy who copies other people's ideas

selling products is though

I've long since decided that there's no such thing as empiric criteria as to what makes a songwriter better than another. I think most of these people are at a very similar level and the differences between them are usually more of a stylistic matter than an actual measurable quality. Most of the arguments about the pseudo objective quality of a songwriter (or band in general) tend to only be effective when preached to a choir so to speak.

It really was a lot of noise about nothing.

Sort of like how bands from the 90's would step on their distortion pedal in order to exaggerate dynamic transitions, and how at some of these times maybe more creative or engaging songwriting would have served them better than simply layering fuzz or volume.

But I dunno.
Fair, but I think the whole grunge and '90s alt-rock movement was, generally speaking, much more about noise and fuzz than carefully crafted songwriting.
Then you just didn't get it, because no one claimed it was about that, except Corgan, who is a world class douche.

Apparently the Smashing Pumpkins have their own version of RM, named Netphoria. From what I've heard, they are merciless towards latter-day Corgan & co..

I don't think it means anything.
I think it means quite a bit insofar as it's a dead-on description of particular style that sold people on a particular sound of a particularly crowded decade of music.

You don't have to defend yourself. You said it well the first time. Let him sort it out for himself. It was perfectly clear.

I tried to get in but apparently the mods have to approve of your username before you can post. I chose "theysucknow" and was shut out.

It seems like a congregation of sociopaths as far as I can tell. Like a sea of nah's except with slightly more cultural awareness.

Oh, please. Vedder copied his entire shtick from Stapp. All Billy did was steal My Bloody Valentine's guitar signal chain.

You cannot be serious. McParadigm's point was a vague jab at abrasive tones being used as a device to distract from a lack of musical depth. It's a pretty awkward point, and I simply wanted him to elaborate, that we might gaze upon its inaccuracies without being left wondering if he was just drunk and baiting.

I don't think "perfect clarity" means what you think it means.
