I found the first two Hobbit movies to be pretty entertaining. Am I a bad person?

I'm still very excited for this. The first one had its moments and I generally quite liked the second one--especially once they actually get to the mountain.

These movies are as much exercises in Middle Earth tourism as they ares storytelling, and the storytelling is done in a particularly languid style at that. I actually don't understand why Dime doesn't like them. They aren't always canon, but they devote more time to making middle earth real (and with stunning success) then any fan should have ever dreamed was possible.

Hey Stip

Agreed... These get way too bad a rap. If they're not true to the books, then there's always the books to read. I like Joe Rogan's bit on people who always say the movies don't do the stories justice.

Yeah, I realized pretty quickly after jumping into Jackson's Middle-earth movies that effective storytelling was definitely not the point. And I wouldn't want it to be.

Yeah, God forbid storytelling be done effectively.

This akin to watching hours of YouTube videos of people hurting themselves accidentally?

Oh please, if you couldn't handle, in fact didn't probably appreciate, differing opinions you'd have checked out a long fucking time ago. You like it here as much as we like having you. So stop being a baby and tell us what movies you're watching today.
