There's no way an album by someone as popular as Tom Petty is the most underrated album of all time.PHATJ wrote:It's pretty damn good alright.durdencommatyler wrote:This might be -- seriously -- the most underrated album of ALL TIME.PHATJ wrote:Tom Petty - Wildflowers
Yes-huh! When even the many of his most die-hard fans don't think it's his best album. And beyond that, those that are medium fans don't even know it exists. And then beyond that people that don't like Tom Petty who either don't know it exists and/or think it's a 'meh' album.LoathedVermin72 wrote:There's no way an album by someone as popular as Tom Petty is the most underrated album of all time.PHATJ wrote:It's pretty damn good alright.durdencommatyler wrote:This might be -- seriously -- the most underrated album of ALL TIME.PHATJ wrote:Tom Petty - Wildflowers

hi joey
I'm always surprised when I meet people who know them. Big fan. My sister lives in Denton. Knows a few of them really well. There was about a two year span where they were in my top 10. Then they kind of fell off the face of the earth. I loved what they did on that live album with Direct Line. Cool idea opening with half of it and closing with the other half. Execution is one of my favorite songs by anyone though.PHATJ wrote:BigRedLedbetter wrote:Fuck yes Execution By Xmas Lights!PHATJ wrote: Flickerstick - Causing a Catastrophe (Live)

Their Fade Into You cover is brilliant.
That album definitely has a backstory for me, too. Which is probably why I think it's so underrated. LV's right. It's not. But that thing means SO much to me that I feel like it should mean more to everyone.BigRedLedbetter wrote:Tom Petty is just solid as a rock. Even his sub par albums are good. Just like clockwork. Wildflowers was in heavy rotation in HS for me though.
Nice. I only saw them once but they were great. Very entertaining. Had a shot with Brandon and talked music for a little bit. He remembered my sister which was cool. DFW use to have a great music scene.durdencommatyler wrote:Yep to all of this.BigRedLedbetter wrote:I'm always surprised when I meet people who know them. Big fan. My sister lives in Denton. I saw them live three times. Met them before one show and after another. Brandon and Dom sat around and talked with us and drank for about 2 hours. Really cool guys. Some great music. Sad they broke up.
Do you know if Brandon is still around DFW playing music? A friend of mine said he saw him once at some little bar or whatever but that was a long time ago.BigRedLedbetter wrote:Nice. I've owned Mojo since it came out but I can't say I've listened to it more than once.Kalevi wrote:BigRedLedbetter wrote:Tom Petty is just solid as a rock. Even his sub par albums are good. Just like clockwork. Wildflowers was in heavy rotation in HS for me though. I adore Highway Companion.
I just got Mojo, I've listened to it twice, and I think it is TP's 2nd best next to Wildflowers. Someone please validate this crazy notion.
